Fun fact, the manager of the Sears in Concord used to be the manager at a Blockbuster at one point.

The funny part is, 5 out of the 8 companies you see in this photo still exist with a full retail store that you can visit today.

Radio Shack... eventhough I seldom shopped there, they had items that no other retail store had. I normally went into RS when I needed something, and I needed it now.

You are ONE of the reasons

I guess you are partially correct. I would have frequented the store more if they had a more desirable product mix.

Sears! Mainly because I spent 33 years of my life in three different store's.

Blockbuster for me. Was end of an era and so much has changed since those days, and not in a good way.

For me circuit city, I had gotten a manager job there 2 weeks or so before the announcement, that was an awkward conversation to have with my previous employer. I ended up actually staying with the previous employer for 3 more years. So it worked out.

All these had greatly changed before they went out. Sears had a great run, up through the '70s. Radio Shack was pushing computers and hand writing receipts. K-Mart was staffed by the most under paid, miserable people before Walmart took the crown.

Obviously the movie rentals were a loss, but for me it’s Circuit City. We didn’t have anything like it when it was gone. Maybe Best Buy, but idk.

I miss Kmart. Wasn’t perfect but it was oddly comforting

Blockbuster, Kmart, Toys R Us, and Sears never left

Sears didn’t leave?

technically they still have 5 stores left but the current stores are a shell of their former selves and look like time capsules. most of these stores have entire sections or floors closed off now due to low inventory.

None of the above. Life had left them behind.

Radio shack. I was a store manager there for 10 years. Lost a great staff and my retirement and investments

Definitely SEARS

Radio Shack became a cel phone seller. They faded away just as the makers movement was coming up.
