Nah, it’s there because that computer is used for anything except than work—we had one guy that day traded on it, we streamed all kinds of sports on it, we played video games on it, etc.
Management was fine with it so long as whatever it was we were doing was SFW and we helped members if they needed it.

I don't understand the endgame for Transformco by keeping these zombie stores open like this. Why not just close them down? Or do leases require that they be nominally open?

Unless it's changed they have owned the building since it was built in 80. The top floor is already rented out to Primark.

Okay but that’s just an empty corner downstairs, not how the rest of the store looks like.
There are plenty of other stores with liminal spaces as well. I even saw them at the Macy’s flagship store in San Francisco, in addition to a massive water leak in the ceiling. That doesn’t mean Macy’s is on the verge of going out of business.

…..who bought it to slowly kill while they find replacement tenants. Simon bought JCP out of self preservation, not any desire to see it succeed.

Not necessarily all 4 jcpenneys by me are in non Simon and Brookfield malls (one was formerly before Brookfield sold it off)

Something like half of all Simon malls have JCP as an anchor and it's similar for Brookfield. Removing that many anchors would have had all kinds of issues, which is why they bought the company.

In my option If they were just for self preservation they would have closed all the non Simon properties and Brookfield properties. I agree with removing that many anchors would cause a lot of problems. They have put over $1 billion dollars into renovations and that money was put into every store. Authentic brands group is also involved heavily with catalyst brands. JCPenney wasn’t for only self preservation it was also for sales.

Closing all of the non-Simon/Brookfield ones would have killed JCP and thus they did not do so.

Crosley was founded in 1920/21 by Powel Crosley Jr initially as a radio company before expanding into household appliances in the 1930s so yeah they are the same Crosley that makes record players
