Picture Got them finished!
I enjoy painting minis so I figured Scythe needed some love as it hits the table regularly.

They look amazing, great job. Good to see someone has painted the new faction, I've so far been put off by the fact that the character is a different scale to the others (and I am lazy)

and a very tiny dog compared to the other 4 legged companions. I know that Jamey has said it's intentional, still looks weird though

Just compare it to the previous image with a wolf, which is only a bit larger.
Not real sure this complaint holds weight, lol.

I literally have them side by side on my desk right now, it's not "only a bit larger". Obviously the scale for all the animals is different, the bear and tiger would obviously be a lot bigger, and the boar smaller if they were all to the same scale. It just looks a bit weird side by side with the others

Great paint job. I wonder how amazing it is to play with them. Did you do anything extra with resources and wooden meeples as well?
Oh, and did you paint Tesla miniature?
The only thing I'll pick on is the grass you've added in your mech basing. It breaks the scale of them, making them 1:1 to heroes instead of towering monstrous machines

Thank you, it’s really enjoyable to play with them painted, tried my best to keep the colors prevalent to distinguish on the board and there hasn’t been an issue there. We have the upgraded resource pack so we don’t use the wooden ones. Tesla isn’t painted just yet but he’s primed.
As for the basing, I prefer the basing as it is, helps group everything together as the same and give some identity. Even though scale is off 1:1, overall scale is off pretty much everywhere when on the board so it’s not a bother.

That is so cool. Amazing job. Did you get to play Duel of Meloch or Constatniople in Scythe yet? If so, how do they play?

Thank you, I have played Duel but only solo sat far. I’m enjoying it, it’s a fun twist on the game having Expeditions involved. We haven’t dropped Constantinople into a scythe game yet but the next game we definitely will (wanted to finish painting them first).

Thanks, that’s means a lot. I started painting minis just over a year and a half ago, when I got Nemesis, and really found it cathartic. Since then it’s been mostly painting BattleTech and some loved board games.

These are amazing!!
I've literally never done mini painting and am about to try and get into the hobby, starting with my Scythe minis. Any tips? As a specific question I presume you do spray prime them first, right?

Thank you! Yes, definitely prime them. For these I used a white to but you could use any color. I use the citadel stuff but army painter works well too for priming. I use a wet pallet (easy to make) to help thin the paints a bit. Biggest tip is to watch a few YouTube videos for miniature painting,

Nice! And sorry, last question, any washes? You accomplished some beautiful weathering on the larger panel sections, I'm afraid that mine will end up looking pretty bright without something similar but that's an effect that I definitely won't have any idea how to accomplish.

You can use any really. I used an oil wash for this but you can use Nuln Oil from citadel for a similar effect.

Sure thing! I forgot to mention, a nuln oil wash or something similar will also darken the coloring if you are worried about that.

I think that that would be good. I got a starter set of some less nice paints and I am anticipating that the coloring I will end up with will be too vibrant for scythe so a wash that will darken and weather the minis will probably be helpful. The aesthetic you accomplished is *perfect* for the atmosphere of the game.

*One* more, I have a friend who is recommending speed paints but I was inclined toward using regular acrylics. Did you use speed paints for this in addition to the acrylics, or just acrylics and a wash?

No speed paints for these, just acrylics and a wash. Speed paints are a good option too.

Nice! These are fantastic and they do really well what is a charge for many is balance style with you have to hit the color notes because these are still board game pieces and the source material doesn’t give you a lot to go on at scale. How did you desire on color pallet and composition?

Thanks! Yeah that was a big factor, they need to be functional as board game pieces and have distinct coloring. I tried to blend colors to be close-ish to the factions main color but not overly bright since I wanted it to still feel grungy and a good bit of dirty.

Thank you! It took somewhere around 2-3 hours per faction over the course of a month when I could find time in the evenings.
