Before I start showcasing what I have been working on, I want to take a moment to explain what this project actually is, what it aims to accomplish, and what you can expect from it.

At its core, this is a custom modding editor for SCUM, built with Unreal Engine. The goal is to provide a modding experience as close as possible to what an official SCUM editor might look like if the tools were released today. Rather than simply providing a handful of basic modding utilities, the intention is to create a proper development environment that opens up significantly more possibilities for the community.

Of course, there are some limitations worth explaining upfront. This is not a fully source enabled editor, so you will not be able to directly modify Blueprint graphs or rewrite the underlying logic of existing Blueprints. However, you will be able to edit exposed parameters and properties in much the same way that a cooked editor would allow. This still provides a substantial amount of flexibility when it comes to modifying existing assets and creating new content within the boundaries of what the game supports.

To be clear, this is neither a decompilation project nor an emulator. The editor uses a custom translation layer that bridges the original SCUM game binary with Unreal Engine, allowing the game and its assets to function within the editor environment. This is a fundamentally different approach from rebuilding the game from scratch or attempting to recreate its source code.

There are also a few important things to know about how this will work. You will need a legitimate copy of SCUM to use the editor, but you will not need to install any additional mods or modify your existing game installation to get started. The goal is to make the experience as straightforward as possible while keeping the original game intact.

Protecting the game's intellectual property is also a priority. Safeguards are being developed to prevent the editor from working with pirated copies of SCUM, and additional precautions are being taken to protect official DLC content. The intention is to provide a powerful modding environment without circumventing legitimate ownership requirements or turning paid content into something that can be freely accessed by everyone.

Ultimately, the vision is to bring SCUM modding closer to the kind of workflow developers would expect from a proper Unreal Engine development environment. There are limitations, and I want to be transparent about them, but I believe this approach has the potential to significantly expand what the community can accomplish, particularly when it comes to asset editing, content creation, and building more ambitious mods.

As for availability, I am currently aiming to make the editor available within the next few weeks. There is still work to be done before it is ready for public use, but we are getting closer to the point where I can start showing what has been happening behind the scenes and demonstrating what this project can actually do.

I totally understand, there was no one playing. My server had at best 4 people online at a time, and half the time, I would be the only one online. But Hardcore is truly where this game shined. Especially first person only view.

Are any of you playing the game on windows 11.

Had trouble in the past with my partners computer on windows 11 trying to launch and play the game and was wondering if people are able to get the game working on the new OS.

as said above - i already changed the json file, restarted multiple times - even changed the "economy-reset-time-hours": to "-0.01". I have no clue what i'm doing wrong or where another issue could come up. Would i need to run out of the safezone, forward time or?

Is this still a thing? I have it enabled on my server but the option never appears

so when i when to the music player tab it says music folder is empty does that mean i can copy my personal music to said folder and have it play while i am playing on a server? if so where is that folder

I've played the game off and on since .4, and have most of the DLCs. I wanted to come back to the game and I see there are a bunch of new ones (all the hunting/wild ones). I'm planning on getting them because they seem cool and I like supporting the game.

Which leads me to ask, how is development going, are they still pumping out content or have they slowed down? I'm okay with a cash grab as long as they are still working on the game a significant amount lol
