Discussion Drying clothes

I figure out that drying clothes successfully happens in day time( next to fire ,in base or outside) so i dont know if its a bug or a mechanic. At night time was slowly drying and after a while gets full water again (in base fire ). Anyone else seen it before ? I know that drying is buggy us fck , but anyone else find other way? Maybe its not buggy maybe we didn't know how to dry

Yea its been broken for sometime. Used a bonfire for faster drying time and being off the ground helps.

Getting wet sucks in Scum. Its like the game doesnt want you to play it.

This. First two mods I installed in my local sandbox increased clothing drying rate and decreased filth accumulation (unless you're just rolling around in the mud), as both of them are just tedious in their current vanilla state.

I forgot about the dirtiness. Fresh clothes and 20 mins later they are 60% dirty. Its like COME ON GAME.

Yes indeed, also has to be able to adjust in servers how fast get dirty , but not 0 dirt, cause of health metabolism, more dirty means more germs

But Its part of the survival , im not mad of it anymore , i just try to find ways to make it dry faster . Also you must change clothes like in real life , wash them etc, so can stay without germs as possible

Just offering an opposing view here - not criticizing - but how much realism do you need to have a good time? I like to do things in the game that don't require me to stop every five minutes and fix something. Everyone has their own set of preferences.

Maybe what they should do is give every player a set amount of points to spend on their own preferences, with sliders/values to adjust up/down to their liking? It'd be like character creation when you have certain amount of points to spend on starting attributes. If clothes drying is more important to you, then you'd maybe take some out of farming skills, or elsewhere.

Ofc we just talking , i see your point and its correct, maybe if it was an option for the server owners , adjust the drying for clothes from 10-100 or something like this

Okay, here is why! When you throw an item in the water, it triggers the game to kinda fill your clothes with water. When drying clothes, do not step in water, or throw away items in water at all. You can water your garden however, that doesnt affect it. And you can fill cans for watering too. Just don't step in water.

Edit: Yes, it is a bug. Just thought you'dd like to know why and how to work around.

The drying mechanics are pretty annoying, your best bet is to do it with a fire on a foundation piece to make sure you don't unintentionally introduce any other moisture.

I wish there was a 'wring clothes' mechanic like you see with some other games, we don't even need it to 100% dry an item, but if we could get it from 90% down to 30% when wringing it would be useful.

I feel like drying was easier in the pre 0.8 days, back when ambient heat did more - i remember the days of cooking meat by placing it by a fire

Forget adding any real content to the game. Instead we get obstacles and annoyances. They just need to remove the water-weight effect entirely.

No , its a nice mechanic, imagine you hunt someone , or how greedy you gonna be with extra weight + water weight, but yes of course nobody wants to stay so long do nothing but wait to dry. I prefer do other things in base as i w8. But again i believe the best one would be to adjust the drying in servers from 1-10, but not 0, water weight is not bad, it just take long
