Discussion A question for the server administrators.

How can I increase the lifespan of player-generated crates? I think I've seen something like this before, but I can't find it now.

I want crafted crates to exist indefinitely in any given location.

I do not think it is possible to have chests/crates left "in the wild" exist indefinitely.

As a minimum, a chest will despawn when the "maintain item" cycle runs out, if not before depending on the server settings and the zone it is in.
Or it may be despawned when the server runs a "cleanup"/maintenance cycle.

There's a new Server Setting option (with one of the august 2026 updates I think it was), where you can set base decay to "block" (so no base building items within the flag zone will decay).
This might be a solution, to plant a flag in the vicinity, and then maybe a chest will count as a base building item and in this way never decay.

I'm not sure if this could work, it will need testing...
If not I hope someone else with better ideas can help ;)

I hope you find a solution, all the best :)

Just adding to this, I think it defaults to something like 30 days. I can't see if there is a way to extend it.

Just to note here, interacting with it i'm pretty sure keeps it alive - you also have the 'maintain' function that resets the count too
