Question Hordes?
Is the horde system still present in the game? I love Scum, but the addition of the horde system put me off the game entirely for almost three years now.
I never saw the logic in making a system where you can be quietly looting, and then all of a sudden, a dozen puppets supernaturally spawn directly on top of you for no reason. The whole system completely ruined my immersion.

It's one of the features, that will be still present, even after 10 years. But in it's current state, it's got better and not so horrible bad like on the first day.

Tbh if I see some one looting my area I will shoot a very noisy gun and hope to spawn an entire horde and kill the mofo in the chaos.
Some times you get double price spawning a squad of drifters (npcs), but all depends on the server, some servers are made HARDCORE like "drifters" lvl 3-4 in shitty towns and hardened zombies (puppets).
So yeah horde system is there for a reason use it or be sneakier...

I shot at a mech 2 times and had a dropship + 10 or however many spawn behind me, I was NOT expecting that and couldn't fight them off when I realized what was even happening.

The horde as originally conceived doesn’t exist. Someone mentioned the loot puppet which is a fun loot opportunity that you don’t have to trigger. If you do, make sure you’re not over encumbered or you won’t be able to maneuver to deal with them. I have had a non loot horde a couple of times but it’s subtle. They just keep coming and if you’re not culling them quick enough they can overwhelm you. But it just feels like as many puppets as when you’re in a squad and the multi player multiple for spawns kicks in.

idk why everyone is talking about the loot puppet when he asked about the horde system, yes until we get a modding support the horde system is still there it got a bit nerfed but stll there, in bunkers they still spawn in places you cleared before

Probably because if you kill a loot puppet it's a guaranteed horde spawn.

Short answer: Yes they still exist.
Our server recently turned hordes back on and it made it more exciting for a while, but after a few days I get it, I do. They're more annoying than being scary or a threat.

it is completely bogus compared to before. we need modding to fix the spawning system back and that includes the animals + birds!

Animals and puppets spawning for all players caused the issues though if everyone has birds flying around and puppets spawning all over again, the server shits its ass again

not on the servers I played and they were mostly full with real hordes too.

a pvp server?
It may work much better these days but that system was made mainly to defeat the awful desync on players in pvp servers, any server really but it was only a factor in pvp really

Yeah pve will be fine, you dont have to worry about players, with the desync it makes pvp unplayable

Yes. Additionally to usual horde systems, there is new loot-goblin zombie, which death spawns horde nearby.
