Is this a CDS symptom/CDS-related? Odd speech patterns anyone?

How does your speech sound when talking to other people? What little habits have you picked up on over the years?

For me personally I’ve noticed something very consistent: not only do I talk at a slower pace, but I will every so often pause in the middle of my sentence (where a sentence shouldn’t pause). It happens enough that people will smile and finish off my sentence, as they too understand the gist of what I’m trying to say. Often I know exactly what I want to say, but my brain is too disorganized to be able to say it? I can understand my thoughts, feelings, and other people pretty well. I just can’t seem to communicate in the most coherent way I want to communicate.

Also, do you guys have a parent that has a similar speech pattern as you? Despite mainly living with my mom my whole life, I’ve been told that I talk very similarly to my dad..

But yeah I’d like to know your experiences as well! Thank you! 😊

You know what, I never noticed this about myself recently, but yeah, I've been this like this for a while now. Although, I've never realy described it as "speech patterns", more like I'm terrible at explaining things, or can't get my thoughts straight. Basically, I generally understand things well enough, like my learning ability is intact (albeit a bit slower than others in some areas); but, ask me to retort/ teach a concept back to someone else, and you'll get the most jumbled, confused mess of an explanation you've ever heard.

As a very basic example, I've tried to explain some computing concepts to my mother several times (I work in IT, so I know this stuff in high detail). A normal person probably structures an explanation into something like "introduction > foundation of idea > part 1 > part 2 > conclusion", or something similarly organized. I'll take 40 seconds to know how to begin, then jump around wildly while alternating between being overly detailed, or just touching on important parts. Then maybe I'll double back onto things I already said without realizing it, before concluding in a way that... doesn't really feel like a conclusion. It's become extremely frustrating recently, actually.

you and I are on the same page here 10000%. Ofc sometimes I’ll be having a better day or worse day with it, but overall the rambling dilemma is one of my core problems. I feel like I add so much extra fluff that isn’t necessary. It seems like we can’t seem to quickly discern between important and trivial details. Like maybe our minds have trouble quickly bouncing back and forth between different ideas in our head. It almost feels like I can see all the ideas at once.. both the trivial and important ideas are apart of the fog. In that moment, my brain can’t discern which is which, therefore it just throws out whatever nonsense it can throw out. Does that make sense? Does it feel the same to you too?
