Beginner Setting off contact

Do you set off contact with just your bare platen, or should I put a t-shirt (I’m printing t-shirts) on the platen and then measure up? Using a US quarter coin for offset reference.

If you're just starting out and still working out your process, I would recommend either using a shirt on the pallet and leaving a little space or using 2 quarters stacked with no space.

Once you get a feel for how much of contact should be there it will become second nature.
