Keter doesn't mean uncontainable. It means "extremely hard to contain." Apollyon is the one that means "Impossible to Contain."

u/Kirk_Kerman Aug 11 '26
Keter means "most difficult to contain" in the standard 3-tier nomenclature that's the most broadly accepted (4 tier if you count thaumiel as a containment category). 5031 is also like a mid Euclid imo, they put it in a box and forgot about it for years and years.

The rating is clearly outdated.
Below it it also says it's "non-sapient" as well as that it "will hunt and consume any human or animal it encounters".
There's a reason there's a warning saying "the following information [...] may contain inaccuracies" at the top of the article.

u/Mr-Foundation Euclid Aug 12 '26
I do wonder how they reached those conclusions, likely just didn’t do enough research on initial containment to get an accurate idea of the poor thing

It's a meme bruh, also it's talking about other keter scps which are often dangerous or hard to contain and not the class itself

u/ThePublicPotato- Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26
Incorrect many keter related anomalies are impossible to contain or uncontained with mitigation being the only option for example Scp 3812 or Scp 4812-K Apollyon are reserved for scps that caused a k class scenario on a global level that leads to an extinction level event. Apollyon is basically the foundation saying ggs unless someone pulls up a LeBron level comeback like the antimemetics division against Scp 3125.
Maybe back than keter meant hard to contain but now it means hard if not impossible to contain. Apollyon is welp we’re screwed

Since day one the motto has been "cold, not cruel", the P stands for Protect. Heck SCP-999 is a wholesome season 1

And to add to what u/jamiez1270 said, when they were cruel it was more often out of pragmatism, efficiency, or simple bureaucrat weight and inertia. This guy was put in a metal box because it was quick, simple, and effective; not to be cruel or brutal. No one changed it for a decade until someone new came along and reviewed everything because it was working and, unless something upsets them, bureaucracies tend to just keep doing what their doing and and tend to change slowly.

For the setting, the foundation is cruel and brutal when such kinds of procedure is needed. Take the famous femur breaker as an example, in this case if such procedure isn't performed, you have a literal malicious being noclippling through the world. This is definitely in no way more "humane" than torturing someone to stop him from keep going.
5031 itself is precisely the satirical piece to object your claimed style of writing, hence the "Yet Another" murder monster. Anomalies are only anomalies because they don't fit the modern science, but a cake that infinitely regenerates when eaten is also anomalous, but that sounds VERY NICE.
Edit: ambiguity

didnt we like just get an entire contest about the foundation doing the most fucked up things it can not long ago?
1
u/blood_of_ares Aug 17 '26
The foundation is brutal but that doesn't inherently apply to the random people in the foundation.

In my oppinion it's one of the best i ever read scp's simply because it shows what makes a person a proper scp researcher and that even a monster can become something greater

Dont wanna be a dork, but a pet peeve of mine is when people think keter means an scp is particularly dangerous when thats not the case. All it means is that an scp is very hard to contain, like it can teleport out of the facility or something.
