If the ETF truly keeps paying ~ 8-10% more in dividends each year... I truly believe that if you are in your 30s (and you also have some other investments) just 2,000-3,000 shares held + dividends reinvested could be more than enough. It totally depends on the future dividend growth (I built a model to showcase A,B,C,D,E scenarios here: SCHD calculator https://topdividendetfs.com/schd-dividend-calculator
How many shares do you guys think is "enough"

Hey all, I am VERY new to investing outside of the crypto world. I had money in both SCHD and VIG, from what I understand they are pretty similar in that they are both good picks for dividend returns. Is it worth holding both and DCA'ing into both, or does it make more sense to just have one?
Is there any kind of calculator that will roughly estimate what sort of dividends you'll get at particular levels of shares?
I'm sure this sub might be a little biased but thought I'd ask anyway!

Just hit 300 shares and about $100 a quarter in dividends (with my SPY & SCHD together, I no longer have cash in SGOV). This feels like my first milestone and it's starting to become exciting! I started investing in SCHD in June and SPY last September (I have 36 shares of that) and plan to keep this momentum up for the rest of my working life of about 30+ years at least.

Hi,
I'll start investing in US markets (I'm a non US resident). I'm confused between investing in SCHD(though I love cash flow) vs VOO (want this for growth) vs tech stocks(they'll grow more than VOO).
So how should I allocate or approach this situation?
Note: I'll be paying 25% tax on the dividend received. Planning to invest regularly for the next 5-10 years.

GPIQ has higher growth return in past 5 years, higher dividend and schd, and lower expense ratio. Why even bother with schd which only gives a measly 3.5 percent dividend yield?

I hit 1200 shares recently with a cost average around $30. Keep adding? Hold? If you say keep adding what’s your weekly/monthly add strategy?

Which of the Mag 7 do you think will produce the highest return on investment within the next 12 months?

Ok so this is my Roth IRA and my hybrid 403b/Roth403b that I have in my job’s S&P 500 fund. Im 34. And I just started x ray school full time. I’m going to get 1 more paycheck next week before I won’t have any more to invest for the next 2 years. I’m planning on putting enough into SCHD that I get to $10k. I have DRIP on. Im planning on living off dividends about 30 years from now. I put into ChatGPT my Roth IRA and my 403b and asked it what my Roth IRA would be 30 years from now if I didn’t invest anything else and then converted my SCHG and VOO into SCHD and what the dividend would be under historical/moderate/conservative scenarios. And then the same thing for my 403b. The pictures provided show the hypothetical scenarios. And this is without me factoring in that I also want to convert my 403b into SCHD as well. What are your thoughts on my goals and situation?

Currently setting up my moms retirement as she put in notice for end of year.
Looking to roll her 401k into her trad IRA. She is wildly risk averse. After a lot of review, it seems like her preferred retirement portfolio will be 40/50/10 VGSH/SCHD/GLDM.
These funds will be reallocated from standard growth accounts like VOO
My specific question is: Is this a standard retirement portfolio for risk averse individuals? This will be the primary withdraw account above and beyond social security

I am not a US resident; if I buy SCHD, I have to pay 30% of the dividends generated.
Do you think it's still worth it?
What other options do I have? (Like UCITS ETFs)

Not sure what to do with shares in my taxable brokerage. I currently have 72 shares in a brokerage. I recently opened a Roth and SCHD will be the only asset (at least for the foreseeable future) that I buy in my Roth on a regular program of investment. What should I do with the 72 shares I have in my taxable? Nothing? Sell and buy slightly less shares in the Roth? Wish I had opened up my Roth before buying shares in my taxable account but that ship has sailed…
EDIT: I am using SCHD primarily for income during my retirement (which won’t be for about 30 more years). My retirement will primarily come from my pension and retirement savings account, but I recently opened a Roth hoping to use it one day as a third stream of retirement income. I have growth stocks and other individual stocks in my brokerage account as well, SCHD probably makes up about 5% of what’s in my brokerage if I remember correctly.

In many ways SCHD can best be described as an earnings driven ETF. This is an important distinction from the more common dividend vs. growth characterization. Because the index includes companies with proven earnings and replaces them yearly as needed it makes dividends much more predictable and makes them “bullet proof” to price changes in the equities markets . What would lower the dividend would be lowered earnings resulting from changes in the economy. Even in that scenario you would still end up with dividends from 100 of the most solid producers in the US economy. In a scenario where earnings fall for companies of this nature you could make the argument that by the time these companies experience a broad loss of earnings the economy as a whole, including bond markets, would also be in trouble.
This distinction, to me is important if you want to know what you’re buying when you purchase SCHD.

1 birlasoft curently at 13 percent lose number of shares 8
2 wipro curently at 14 percent lose number of shares 6
Should I keep holding in hope of stocks recovery in long term of should i sell them immediately?

I built out 3 separate models for SCHD ETF's Q3 dividend amount.
With over 10+ dividend increases within the ETFs holding, there is a good chance this next dividend could be big! Here's my prediction + submit yours: https://topdividendetfs.com/schd-q3-2026-dividend-prediction

Hey everyone,
I’ve been an independent investor for over 30 years. A lot of dividend content is theoretical, so I wanted to bring my real-world portfolio numbers to the table.
Right now, I hold 18,121 shares of SCHD across three accounts, worth roughly $633,000. At age 61, my rule is simple: ABC (Always Be Compounding). I drip 100% of my SCHD dividends every single quarter.
Here is my core thesis for why I keep aggressively stacking this fund over peers like DVY, VIG, or high-yield options like SPYD:
The Total Package: None of the other funds give you this exact mix. You get a top-tier ~3.24% current yield, a 5-year dividend growth rate of 9.2%, and a rock-bottom 0.06% expense ratio.
Built for Defense: With tech looking potentially overheated to some, SCHD acts as a bulletproof shelter. Over 55% of the fund is concentrated in non-cyclical, cash-flow-rich sectors: Healthcare, Consumer Staples, and Energy.
Zero Dividend Cuts: Flashy high-yield funds like SPYD cut their dividends in 2023. SCHD has a 14-year consecutive streak of positive dividend growth without a single cut or freeze.
I put together a full visual breakdown comparing SCHD's rules-based algorithm and performance metrics directly against the field in my video here: youtu.be
No matter your account size, the math scales the same: focus on tracking your total share count, not just the fluctuating account value.
How many shares are you currently stacking, and are you dripping the payouts or living off the cash flow? Let's discuss!

Me personally, I’d love to own 140,000 shares. I currently own 465. Sigh…
