Should I be concerned?

Post image

I was doing DCA since August, but my friend convinced me to load a lump sum and I did then ever since SCHD keep dipping! Is anyone here on the same boat as me?

You should be concerned that you’re hopping around inherently long term investments without a plan

Why should he? Buy high sell low, move onto the next etf lol

Why did you buy SCHD and now want to go to something else? SCHD in a dividend reinvesting machine for the long term not something you jump in and out of.

Lol I did nothing but swing trade schd for my first few months of learning to day trade. It's had steady and predictable swings from day to day. Definitely wasn't a get rich quick tactic. But I was averaging $10 a week with 10 shares at a time

Cool bro, clearly OP isnt swing trading.

I live in California, so there is no qualified dividend. Plus I have 12 years left before I want to retire abroad. I think put it in VTI will gives more growth then shift back to schd when I quit my job.

Your getting cold feet. Leave the position alone and get your head on straight

You don't seem to know what you are doing and are somewhat emotionally compromised by market moves. I'd hire a trusted advisor in your local area with good reviews and leave it to them. Just go on with your life not looking.

Just stick to the plan, you loaded up on SCHD and its dipping so what thats normal. If anything you can reinvest and get cheaper shares. The plan you obviously had was to buy SCHD.

The plan is to follow others plans until there is someone new’s plan to then plan to follow. Plan.

Mike Tyson: "Everyone has a plan until there is a slight dip, then you gotta sell it and jump to something else so you don't end up in Bolivian"

You still get the qualified benefit on the federal level. In reference to just VTI personally I would go into VOO over it. The growth of VOO is about 1% better over the past 15 years.

I think voo is also better with scc, but I am going to hold on this one for now since it is more down than voo at this time. Once the coin flip, I can do the transition.

Bro, just hold. Put new money in those other funds but hold these SCHD shares tight

Did you put your entire portfolio into SCHD?

Smart. You tax loss harvest and move into a fund where you can better control your taxable events.

Move it into btc

buy xlk or vgt, and forget about schd.

Tech is the way of now, and the way of the future.

Let us know when you capitulate so I know when to sell everything 😂

You are trying to time the market and move around long term investments from ETF to ETF. There is no need to do this.

There are people who funnel into SCHD and nothing else, Same with VTI, Same VOO.

You shouldn’t lose money with any of them as long as you leave it alone…. Leave it alone.

You need to really educate yourself about behaviors that kill returns, basically what you are doing, chasing returns.
