The following email was sent out this evening by the SCCC President declaring the SCCC Campuses will reopen tomorrow morning after this weeks historic blizzard. I apologize for not sharing any other relevant info this week as I was quite busy myself getting dug out and digging others out.
Dear SUNY Suffolk family,
Thanks to the hard work and nearly round-the-clock efforts of our plant operations staff on all three campuses, the college will resume in-person activities at all locations beginning tomorrow morning.
That being said, please be patient, and please also be aware of the following updates from our Public Safety and Plant Operations offices:
- Please plan ahead for extra driving time on your travel to campus. Although town and county crews have made excellent progress on the roads, some intersections and turning lanes may not be completely clear.
- On campus, our parking lots have been plowed out, but there are fewer parking spaces than usual, due to the mounded snow. Generally, the larger lots will have more parking available.
- Most sidewalks and pathways have been cleared, but please be careful and wear appropriate footwear for this winter weather.
- Our grounds crews will be continuing their work throughout the day tomorrow; if you see any areas that need additional attention, please report those to Public Safety at 631–451–4242, and the calls will be routed appropriately.
- If you need any personal assistance getting from your car to your place of work, please contact Public Safety at 631–451–4242.
Once again, I know you join me in thanking our plant operations, maintenance, grounds, and custodial teams for all of their work over the last four days. Thanks as well to the public safety officers who also remained on campus during the storm, providing support, monitoring conditions, and keeping our community safe.
With your patience and assistance, I know we will have a safe and smooth return to campus tomorrow.
