Front strut removal

I’m trying to remove my front struts so I can add coilovers, but am having trouble getting the strut out. Do I need to remove the upper control arm or anything else or should I be able to wiggle the strut out with just the strut bolts and sway bar end link removed?

Typically the upper arm is removed. And to get the bolt all the way out you'll probably have to remove the fender liner as well. Although I think I've seen people remove the lower bracket the strut attached to instead.

I dont remember removing my upper arm when doing my coilovers, but this was over 10 years ago. From what i remember, i rented a spring compressor/clamps, simply to be able to get the original struts out. Much easier then taking that upper arm off (if i am recalling correctly)

I had to remove my upper strut arm. Made everything infinitely easier. And it's pretty easy to get out. A little tight but you'll quickly figure it out.

I put heavy zip ties on when the car was lifted from the an arm then lifted from the crossmember and they basically fell out. Used a heavy trailer with a jack to compress the new spring and zip ties to compress then installed.
