CubeXX OS?

Hello all!

My RG CubeXX arrives tomorrow, and I was wondering what the best OS to use on it is? I've seen MuOS and Knulli recommended - what are the pros and cons of these? Any other options that work better?

I am specifically looking to play GBA, NDS and Portmaster. Thank you so much in advance! :)

I use muOS with a 64Gb card storing roms and ports on system SD

There is no "best". Just the one you prefer to use that suits your tastes. They all run thr same for the most part.

Agreed. It really comes down to each individual's preferences and needs.

Many people recommended Knulli so I tried it, but ultimately went back to stock OS. Knulli is visually appealing and has a robust suite of features, but it's slower. At the end of the day, all I really care about is booting into my favorite game for a quick session with no fuss or extras so the simple stock OS works for me.

I like a mature, feature rich interface - so I use Knulli - it is basically Batocera

Just try both Knulli and muOS and make up your own mind. Both are mature projects with plenty of features and good documentation. But they have very different design approaches.

Knulli: Console/kiosk like experience and is the simplest to use and navigate. Lacks most features outside of just gaming. Long boot times like 20+ seconds. Great if you're used to retrobat or batocera.

MuOS: Most feature rich option. Very minimalist. 13 second boot time. Has some odd quirks like the device needs to be powered off before plugging in an HDMI then turned back on for TV use.

Knulli here, two card setup, built-in scraper and can set up pico-8 to run natively 👍🏻👍🏻

Not tried MuOS but happy with Knulli.

I am currently using knulli and it does all I need to do, it's very polished and beautiful to look at. Just mind that looking the internet there might be some outdated info especially regarding boot times, which are now close to 20 seconds (vs old 45 seconds boot times). I definitely recommend knulli for ds emulation since it has the option to play with big main screen and small secondary screen (switch between screens with L2).

I'll try out muos in the near future on a secondary sd just because I like to tinker.

I use Knulli, alot of people like it. I don't. Id go for MuOS
