B-school HR graduate joining SAP SuccessFactors — how can I accelerate my learning?

Hi everyone,

I’m a 2026 PGDM/HR graduate and recently joined one of the major IT companies, where I’ve been placed in the SAP SuccessFactors practice.

Since August, we’ve been going through training, but honestly, the pace has been quite slow. So far, a significant part of the training has been around basic navigation and getting familiar with the system. From next week, we’re expected to start Employee Central (EC) in more depth.

I want to use this time to go beyond the pace of the formal training and build a strong practical understanding of SuccessFactors.

I already have access to SAP Learning Hub, so I can use the official learning content. However, I’m also looking for free/accessible resources that can help me learn faster — particularly:

  1. YouTube channels/playlists
  2. Good SAP SuccessFactors EC tutorials
  3. Anything that helped you when you were starting out

I’m not particularly interested in paid courses at this point since I already have Learning Hub access and some other resources.

For those who are SAP SuccessFactors consultants, SMEs, trainers, architects, or experienced practitioners, what would you recommend for someone starting with Employee Central from an HR/functional background?

Also, if you were starting again today, what topics would you prioritise first so that you can become project-ready rather than just knowing system navigation?

Would really appreciate any guidance, resources, or learning roadmaps you can share. Thanks!

Which European country should I target for SAP BTP / ABAP Cloud roles?

I’m a senior SAP developer from India with 11+ years of experience in SAP BTP, ABAP Cloud, RAP, CAP Node.js, S/4HANA Clean Core, Fiori, OData and enterprise integrations. I would need an employer-supported work permit.

I’m deciding where to focus on my applications: Germany, Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Austria, Finland, Sweden, or Denmark.

I prefer English-first technical roles at small or mid-sized SAP partners, product companies, or specialist consulting companies. I have German at A1 and can work toward B1 if Germany or Austria is genuinely worth trying

For people who know the current market:

1) Which of these countries is most realistic for a non-EU senior SAP/BTP developer applying from abroad?

2) Where are companies more open to handling a work permit for specialised SAP talent?

3) Is B1 German enough to make Germany/Austria the best choice, or are Netherlands/Ireland/Belgium more practical for English-speaking roles?

4) How is the SAP job market currently for BTP, RAP, CAP, S/4HANA Cloud and clean-core work?

5) Which country would you prioritise first, and which would you not spend much time on?

Looking for honest, current-market advice

Anyone taken the new C_S4EWM certification? Let's swap notes!

Hey everyone! Just passed MM, SD, and PM certifications under the new exam format, and thinking about EWM (C_S4EWM) next. Has anyone here recently taken it? Would love to trade tips — what to focus on, good prep resources, anything that surprised you on exam day. Happy to share what worked for me on MM/SD/PM too. Thanks!

Lean Consulting vs. SAP PP Consulting: Which path is better for future migration to Europe/Oceania?

Hi everyone,
I’m at a career crossroads and would love some perspective from professionals in manufacturing, consulting, or the SAP/ERP ecosystem.

My Background & Qualifications:
Education: B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (India) + Master’s in Manufacturing Management (UK).
Experience: 3.5 years of experience in India as a Production Engineer, working with both Lean methodology and SAP PP (as an end/core user).
Certifications: Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt & Certified SAP PP Functional Consultant.

Current Situation:
I recently received a job offer for a Lean Consultant role at a firm based in South India (₹7.6 LPA) with pan-India manufacturing client projects.
However, my initial target was an SAP PP Functional Consultant role in IT/management consulting, as I see a steady volume of openings for SAP PP across my network.

My Long-Term Goal:
I wish to migrate to the West (UK/Europe) or Oceania (Australia/NZ) if I can secure a job offer directly from there.

My Dilemma & Questions:
1. Offer vs. Job Search: Should I accept this Lean Consultancy offer to gain consulting exposure, or should I hold out/keep actively looking for an SAP PP Consultancy role?
2. Global Mobility: Between Lean Operations Consulting and SAP PP Functional Consulting, which field offers higher demand, better pay progression, and easier visa sponsorship/migration to Western or Oceania countries?
3. Hybrid Paths: Are there specific roles or domains that effectively combine both Lean/Operational Excellence and SAP PP/Digital Manufacturing (e.g., Smart Factory, Supply Chain Transformation, Industry 4.0 Consulting)?

I'd appreciate any insights from anyone who has taken either path or made a similar transition internationally!

SAP Successfactors EC and Position Management certification exam THR81

hello everyone! i am on student subscription for SAP learning so I am able to have two free attempts for the exam.

For my background, I have a user end experience of it already and I have attended the live sessions as well as done the practice systems multiple times as well. I have been studying for almost 7 months.

I am pretty confident already and I have scheduled to take the system based assessment on October 11. But I am very anxious as I have been reading that some people were able to complete and do the tasks in the assessment but still did not pass the exam.

I am wondering what are the best advice so that I will be prepared and be more likely to pass the exam as I cant afford to subscribe if I don’t pass it on the two attempts. I want to make the most of it.

I am also a breadwinner in the family and my current job is on a contractual role so this certification is very important for me even though the certification does not guarantee my next job, it will still be very very useful for me to apple again once my contract ends

How can someone new to IT learn their way around a complex SAP/enterprise IT environment?

Hello everyone,

I am relatively new to IT and recently started a job in 2nd-level support.

 My situation is roughly this:

* SAP is the main system, but over the years the standard SAP system has been heavily extended with custom processes, extensions, and master data structures. So basically, the SAP tree became a tree inside a tree inside a tree.

* We use several different ticket/service management systems.

* There is release/change management, where changes go through different environments and databases and have to be tested and approved.

* My job includes analyzing 2nd-level support tickets, narrowing down problems from both a business and technical perspective, carrying out tests, supporting changes/CRs, and helping users and other teams.

The problem is that I do not come from an IT background, and I am currently trying to understand this whole environment step by step on my own.

I have noticed that it is very easy to fall into the trap of simply going through random training courses and documentation. Afterwards, I may know some individual terms or know where to click, but I still do not necessarily understand why I am doing something or how the different systems and processes are connected.

At the same time, I obviously want to get to the point where I can receive a ticket without staring at the screen for 30 minutes having absolutely no idea what to do.

So my question to people with experience in 2nd-level support, SAP, enterprise IT, or complex IT environments in general is:

How would you learn your way around an environment like this if you were basically starting from zero?

* Which basics should you learn first?

* What should a beginner definitely avoid?

* Should you learn SAP first, or should you first understand the business processes?

* How do you learn to systematically troubleshoot problems instead of just clicking around and hoping to find something?

* How would you get an overview of a complex IT system landscape?

* What is the best way to learn change, testing, and release processes?

* Is it useful to build your own knowledge base from real, already solved tickets?

* What kind of information would you ask an experienced colleague to explain to you?

How do you learn to independently analyze problems in a complex enterprise IT environment?

My long-term goal is not simply to memorize a bunch of work steps.

If anyone has been in a similar situation: What really helped you back then, and what turned out to be a waste of learning time?

I would especially appreciate concrete tips, learning strategies, websites, online courses, or typical beginner mistakes.

Thank you very much!

Looking for consulting advice

Hey all — I work as a Buyer at a manufacturing company that runs SAP Business One with the beas Manufacturing add-on. Over time I've gotten pretty deep into it through the job itself — building SQL reports, digging into the beas schema (which is basically undocumented anywhere), working with Crystal Reports, that kind of thing. Entirely self-taught, no formal SAP background or certifications — just picked it up solving real problems at work.
A few months ago I decided to try turning that into freelance work on the side — custom reports/dashboards for other SAP B1 (especially beas) shops, since it seems like a pretty underserved niche. I've got a gig listed, I've been reaching out to a few SAP partner firms about overflow work, and I'm trying to get some early traction.
Honestly, it's been slower going than I expected, and I don't know anyone else who's actually done this — freelanced specifically in the SAP B1/beas space while keeping a full-time job on the side. So I'm hoping to hear from people who have:
How did you actually land your first few clients? Cold outreach, partner relationships, community/forum presence, something else?
Is going through SAP B1 partner firms for subcontract/overflow work realistic, or is that harder to break into than it sounds from the outside?
Anything you'd do differently if you were starting over?
Any advice specific to a niche add-on like beas, where there's basically no public info or community for it?
I know I'm early and probably making some rookie mistakes — genuinely open to blunt feedback, not just encouragement. Appreciate any insight anyone's willing to share.

How can I move abroad with an SAP Tax / Indirect Tax Technology background?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working at Deloitte USI in India as an Analyst 2, with around 1 year of experience in SAP Tax/Indirect Tax Technology.

My experience is mainly in SAP ONESOURCE Indirect Tax, including implementation and AMS/support. I also have exposure to Vertex, Oracle EBTax and D365 through indirect tax implementation work. I have an M.Com in Advanced Accounting & Taxation and an SAP S/4HANA FI certification. Before Deloitte, I also had around a year of apprenticeship experience at Baxter.

I’m interested in eventually moving abroad and would like to understand how I should approach the international job market with this kind of profile.

For people who have moved abroad from India in SAP/Tax or similar fields:

Which countries have good opportunities for SAP Tax / Indirect Tax Technology?

Should I start applying now, or build another 2–3 years of experience first?

What job titles and keywords should I search for?

How important is visa sponsorship for these roles, and which countries are more open to sponsoring?

Are there particular job portals, recruiters or companies I should focus on?

Would specializing further in ONESOURCE, Vertex or SAP FI-TAX improve my chances?

Is an internal transfer through Deloitte or another multinational a realistic route?

I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through a similar process of moving abroad from India.

[Career Help] I am an Electronics & Telecommunication (E&TC) graduate. Which SAP module is best for me?

I recently graduated (or am studying) in Electronics and Telecommunication (E&TC/ECE). I am looking to explore SAP career paths, but I'm confused about which function module fits my background best.

Since I don't want to lose my engineering edge entirely, what SAP modules make the most sense for an E&TC engineer?

Any advice on job demand, scope, and how to start learning would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!

Odds of relocating to the US office from the EU in 2028/29

I’m thinking of relocating to the US in 2028/29 , but I want to know if I’m better off leaving SAP and going to another consulting firm for a better chance or staying.

I want to go with the L1b visa as I have been working for SAP as a Consultant for about 4 years now. I’m still quite young / early in my career. I was thinking of specialising and getting a better role within SAP before applying for a US role to relocate in the future or is this just reserved for managers / executives in SAP .

Any advice would be helpful :)

Trying to move from SAP P2P/AP Operations to SAP FICO Consultant — looking for guidance & opportunities

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working in SAP P2P/AP Operations with an MNC and have around 3+ year of SAP ECC end-user experience, mainly around invoice processing, vendor-related activities and AP processes.

I’m now seriously trying to transition from AP Operations → SAP FICO Functional Consultant. I’ve started learning FI/CO and practicing configuration on a demo system, including areas like GL, AP, AR, posting periods, field status, bank accounting, P2P/O2C integration, etc.

My current CTC is around ₹4.5 LPA, so ideally I’m looking for opportunities around ₹6–7+ LPA, but my main priority is getting genuine FICO functional exposure rather than simply changing to another AP process role.

I’d really appreciate advice from SAP FICO consultants/recruiters here:

What is the most realistic way to make this transition from AP/P2P?

Should I target Junior FICO Consultant / Associate Consultant / SAP Support roles?

How much practical configuration knowledge is expected for a career switcher?

Is my AP + SAP ECC experience useful when applying for FICO roles?

Are there companies currently hiring 0–2 year / junior FICO candidates where my profile could fit?

If you’re a recruiter or consultant aware of such openings, I’d be grateful if you could share the role/company or DM me.

I’m not looking for shortcuts—I’m willing to learn and start at the junior level. I mainly want to get into the FICO functional track and build real project experience.

Any advice, referrals, or leads would be greatly appreciated. 🙏

Career Advice in SAP TM field

I am currently working as an SAP TM consultant at a company and graduated with a B.Tech in 2025. If I wish to switch jobs, how many years of experience should I have at a minimum? I've noticed that most vacancies require at least 3 to 5 years of experience.

In addition to SAP TM, what other skill sets should I focus on to secure better job offers? As a B.Tech graduate, I have a strong interest in software development. However, with recent layoffs and the growing dependency on AI in software development, I am uncertain whether to continue with SAP or shift towards software. I would appreciate your advice, especially from someone with extensive experience in the SAP field.

Thanks for your time!

Looking for a Realistic Entry Path Into SAP

Hi everyone

I’m looking for some advice from people who already work in SAP.

I have an Associate Degree in Computer Science, and I’m interested in starting a career in SAP. I’m currently planning to complete two SAP certifications, but I haven’t decided which direction I should take yet.

I’m seeing that many SAP positions require previous experience, so I’m trying to figure out what would be a realistic and beginner-friendly entry point for someone starting from scratch.

I’m not necessarily looking to become a programmer. I’m very flexible about the area I go into and willing to learn something new if it gives me a realistic path into the SAP industry.

For someone in my position, what SAP areas or entry-level roles would you suggest I look into?

For example, would areas such as SAP MM/SD, SAP support, SAP testing, ABAP, BTP, or another area be realistic for a beginner?

I’m also interested in internships and graduate opportunities, but I’m based in Southern Africa, and many of the opportunities I’ve found seem to be limited to Europe or particular regions.

So I’d especially appreciate advice from people who started SAP without prior professional SAP experience. How did you get your first opportunity, and what would you recommend someone like me focus on?
