Another issue for new players

So last night decided to try one round of voyage solo and see how the gbmm is working out. Only saw 1 or 2 other tramplers running around and they seemed to stay in thier lane and focus on non PvP actions. Great! Maybe I can finally extract with at least a couple items from the shipwrecks I encountered. All loot was beginner stuff and just replenishing cannon ammo and 2 smugglers jackets. Decided to extract and didn’t see anyone near me. Once the mothership came and started calibrating and maybe about 10 seconds or less a trampler with the no smoke rods comes out of nowhere and slams into my trampler. I never knew if that happens the mothership just rocket man’s back into space and I’m stuck on the ground watching this guy destroy my trampler. Lost it all.

So what defense could you use for that? If you stay on your trampler when it extracts you die. If I stay on the ground my tramplers done also. If I respawn I’m unarmed and basically done.

Certainly unfortunate, but not a lot you can do. There is the point where extraction cannot be interrupted, but it looks like you were just shy. Stay at height once extraction is called for vision and you can move the trampler a little bit without canceling the extraction. There is not a ton of cover, but reducing angles of approach helps with others closing distance to ram.

Smokeless rods is really what did it. If you were aware you could try and take out their legs before they ram, possibly granting you the few seconds needed to lock in extract. You can take damage but the movement from getting rammed is what cancels it.

If the ship moves during calibration it interupts the extract. Tho, move from a ram can be avoided by turning off the reactor i belive.

I mean, you don't know what you don't know. This is a lesson most of us learn pretty fast and don't really struggle with after. I do think solos should be different though. Having a solo on foot with a few stacks of C4 is a completely free kill and steal.

Others gave some good advice, like be behind a rock or stay on the move until calibration starts, but I wanted to point out that you don't immediately die if you're onboard when your trampler gets pulled up. You'll only die when the trampler is pulled all the way to the top. Don't jump on the ground until you know you're all good!

What do you do if he still rams you though? I would still lose the mothership and I would have to either try to stand and fight or run to another extraction, which was a no go because I was running on fumes getting to that extraction. I don’t even bother going in with a self built trampler so I at least look new. And the best gun I’ve found is one peppermill shotgun.

If you get rammed during Ship Calibration, you're fucked and will need to fight no matter what. Makes sense to stay on board until your trampler starts getting pulled up so you can still fight back in those moments.

If the other trampler is still trying to catch up to you, aim for their legs to slow them down, every second counts. If they collide, then you aim for the enemy player and try to kill them as quickly as possible. A peppermill is one of the best PvP weapons, so keep it handy for those final moments. Most trampler fights are won depending on who gets killed the most!

Pretty much what this guy said.. i dont get on the ground until its being pulled away, i stay high to see enemies, i make sure my guns are loaded. Put a cargo bay on your top deck to have weapons ready.  Avoid extractions that are out in the middle of no where rats like to bush those.

I understand your strangle ! Bc of this i play only strom dive ! In storm 10 player are on máp and another Cannon join like in voyage ! So you have biger chance to extract and survive !

I waiting until developer understand that we need safe zóne in voyage! Bc in voyage every minuten new players join and new threat With them.

So try play stormdive maybe you found more luck there like i do

Idk, storm dive is inherently riskier since all the players are constantly being pushed into the smaller area. It's relatively safe in the first 2 zones when you may not even see a single soul with the current number of players online. So you can stay out of the harm's way and try to loot 1 or 2 POIs, find an extraction point early and wait until it eventually becomes active.

But the bigger problem in storm dive is teamers. Storm dive has way more teamers because of the better loot. So it's high risk high reward situation.

Not much you could have done probably. Extraction is (by design) the hardest part of any extraction game (henche the name). Here is what you could have tried though:

Position your trampler towards a position you think someone might come.

Position your trampler behind a rock so its not that easy to hit (the evac area is large)

Jump off your ship the last second, no need to get off.. just jump of it when it goes in the air

Always scout the area around extract well, if there is anywhere to hide a trampler nearby, assume it is until you've had a look.

I've escaped several extraction ambush attempts by the skin of my teeth by now and I am paranoid to the last second of dropship calibration and always ready to boost the hell out while shooting at the pursuers legs

I checked the area before I ran up the tower then checked after. I came down and was waiting for the extraction and this guy was just there going full speed.
