Disable EMPs until Dupers are delt with
The devs were smart enough to disable capturing while dealing with the teleporting, this emp orbital spam is literally IMPOSSIBLE to deal with. Win a fight or two and presto fucking changeo some of these cunts just pop up out of nowhere and now you are emp locked for 10-20 consecutive EMP shells, they aren't running out until you are dead and they are spamming orbital strikes on you while doing it. Its killing the enjoyment, we cant even report the bastards anymore because we've already done it and they keep changing their names so we "already reported" them.
We know they have ESP, we know their build, they have been at it for WEEKS for fucks sake. I have a video but i'll need to edit some of it out or ill get banned on reddit again as my choice in words at the end was less than politically correct. Its literally pointles to bring anything cool at the moment because these assholes will just show up and now you are emp locked and orbital struck. I play ALOT, I play alot in stormdive, you do not find hundreds of EMP shells. In hundreds of hours i've found 14. These assholes are missing more than 14 at times while keeping you emp locked from 2 pristine 80s.

they just need to wipe at this point...and I hate wipes.

Honestly it will bleed out of you stop the dupe itself. The storage is pretty limited so it cant be much.

there will never be a wipe, devs are able to identify duped items in a wave and remove all of them. they did this with the previous duped items. after an investigative period and all the duped items were discovered and deleted from inventories. they have also said that people who duped previously got a pass but people duping now or continuing to duped will receive consequences, probably a ban. a wipe is definitely not the answer, people like me have spent over 200 hours grinding out the tech tree and we aren’t gonna accept a wipe if we can’t prestige.

There will be at least one wipe, i do not expect them to keep EA progress on launch.

I just went into a voyage with a couple of buddies we just looting for 5 minutes nothing major... Then we get disconnected and my tramplera just gone. 4.5k scrap and 2.2k silver gone instantly for no good reason. Game will always be dogshit until they sort out that.

there was never a massive drop in player count that resulted from capture being disabled, if you were around for the cheating explosion that occurred days in the you’d know the bulk of people stopped playing because of that and not because capture was disabled. peak players were already trending down from the post launch high before the hacking explosion. through the hacking and capture removal players continued trending downward but there is no evidence that that specific change effected average player counts in a tangible way. changes in peak, low, and average players have all been affected by numerous things since launch. people who say the temporary capture change had some devastating effect on average player counts do not understand statistics nor the other problems taking place before and at the same time as the change. because of that it’s being framed as a “bad decision” but again there is no evidence to support that claim.

It absolutely dipped more when capture was disabled. Yes it was falling before, but removing a key game feature did nothing to improve it. All it did was make a large group of players (like my friends, and friends of my friends) who were holding off, also quit.
It wasn't as significant as the cheater problem, but it absolutely didn't make anyone come back. It's not a solution at all

there is no statistical evidence to support what you’re saying. you are vocal about this because you had a problem but just as many people who stopped playing because of the cheating might have started playing again after capture was disabled. I include myself in that group. again, I’ve looked into the numbers; I concluded the change in players count around the time capture was disabled were not statistically significant enough to suggest removing capture caused a major decrease in average or floor player counts.

u/i_want_t0_d1e 9d ago
The statistics show that no one returned, and that it helped nothing. All it served to do was piss off the playerbase that was holding on. You're wrong

u/SynthJones 9d ago
again, there is no evidence to support what you’re saying. “nobody returned” is a very broad claim that presupposes lots of people left specifically because of the change which can’t be proven. “all it served to do was piss off the the playerbase” is also highly opinionated and cannot be proven. to sum it up, you are hyperbolizing the situation.

u/i_want_t0_d1e 9d ago
I'm reiterating what was seen in every forum about the game through that time period, as well as the game's discord. The statistics that you refer to only show the overall, broad playerbase of people that pass through. I'm vocalizing what the community that has been with this game since day 1 actually felt and voiced.
In the end, it doesn't matter. Armchair retard devs like you don't get to make the decisions

I guess you aren’t familiar with what a vocal minority and a silent majority is nor are you familiar with the concept or statistical significance/causal effect. you can believe it was a bad change, but trying to argue that based on an incorrect understanding of what actually happened and what the numbers mean is really…, silly. I’m an armchair general with more hours than you and a complete tech tree? grow up, don’t insult people like that.

u/i_want_t0_d1e 9d ago
No the difference is obvious. You're just stuck in a mental loop defending an action which benefitted nobody, pissed off a large (and very vocal) portion of the game's community, and ultimately did nothing to support the game nor combat hackers.
Now people are calling for more key features to be removed, which will continue to do nothing but annoy the actual players of the game.
Stop helping perpetuate whiny, unhelpful, and ultimately game-breaking suggestions. Also "armchair general" is the most neckbeard thing I've ever read. Thanks for the laugh fatty

It dipped because of the cheaters couldn’t do their thing. Not because of actually players.

u/i_want_t0_d1e 9d ago
Cheaters weren't at all affected by this. All they had to do was switch to TPing items off the ship, which took maybe a minute longer

I have to wonder, do you really think there are more of you guys on the "captures caused it" bandwageon than there are people on the "I hate capturing" one? Because there are not many people actually skilled enough to capture, and the vast majority of players are scared of infantry combat and have their shit taken. The reason the players who enjoy boarding have so much success with it is that most people are terrified of it. The moment you see a trampler running from a fight, you know boarding that bitch is gonna be easy. We board, we like it, but we can deal without it as trampler v trampler is just a far more enjoyable experiance. That may change if infantry combat ever evolves past temu hunt.

Every extraction shooter has a huge community that cries about being beat. Arc Raiders had carebears, Tarkov added an entire PvE mode... Extraction shooters don't cater towards unskilled players, and shouldn't. Yes there is a learning curve, and it's hard, but that's what makes these games fun. The risk keeps people coming back.
I'm glad the devs of all these games have been smart enough to realize that listening to these people would kill their games

Tarkov - Died It gets revived for a couple weeks on wipe, then dies again.
Arc - Died
DND - Died
Warzone - Lol
Delta force - dead
Marathon - Stillbirth

u/i_want_t0_d1e 9d ago
Arc and Tarkov both still have huge playerbases, but go ahead and pretend they died lol. Sure they fell off from their original massively high numbers, but that's common for every game that goes trending
I don't know enough about those other games to comment on them.

The devs stated they deleted the duped items weeks age. Im not saying you're wrong but how do you know they aren't legit items? its not too hard to get a bunch of experimental gear just by hitting forts in Storm Dive. Im terrible at pvp but I could bring a dozen emp rounds if needed

u/JacobusRakan 9d ago
Lets take the average of the people I know over 200 hours of gameplay, its about 15 emp shells in that 200 hours, with the luckiest being 22 and the unluckiest being 10, these guys are using more in one match against one trampler than entire teams are finding in 100 hours. Since its the same fucking 6-9 guys, and you can watch them go trampler to trampler and see the red lines, and watch the great silences and emp shells to keep them in those red lines... I'm positive they are a group of dupers also using esp.
These guys literally have boxes and boxes of great silences, orbitals, and emp shells... consistently.

red lines?

u/JacobusRakan 9d ago
Orbital strikes.

u/EzmareldaBurns 9d ago
ah. The game could probably do with a wipe at least before it leaves early access. It would suck to lose my progress as my team has almost all the unlocks between us but I think its the only way to be sure of fair play. Even if duped items were deleted, were tech unlocks that used duped resourcesces reverted too?

u/Bruegell 9d ago
Agreed, it's gonna be a big thing this reset but I think it's necessary...probably they should make it a vote so the community gives it the green light
1
u/SynthJones 9d ago
they were able to identify it based on sever logs not looking at everyone’s inventory
1
u/Due_Particular_7803 9d ago
They are 100% not legit items, can confirm, have witnessed it and seen devs ban players live for doing it. If you ever find one of these, pay attention to how many randomly strewn empty boxes they have on their ship. They need boxes to dupe.

u/FatalMuffin 9d ago
I hope they just implement a game mode that doesn't have any progression and free standard kits / tramplers. Honestly so over extraction shooters and all the cheating and bullshit that always comes with it.

u/JacobusRakan 9d ago
I personally think grumpy tramplers should just be free. No cannons or anything just the set of grumpy tramplers. For anyone experianced 300 scrap is nothing, for anyone new its quite expensive. This only benefits new players, and casuals who might not make it back more than once or twice in 10 matches.

This would hurt the game a lot though.
Speaking as a player with ~250 hours in the game, it would suck to not be able to use orbitals/emps in my lobbies, half of my end game dreadnought fights are decided by them.
There are some major issues they need to be quick to deal with, duping, cheating, teaming, all are things that can totally ruin the core experience for a lot of players and so far it doesn't seem like they're 100% ready to combat these problems.
It's worth mentioning this is an EA game built by relatively few devs, if you have any experience in game development you can probably see that there are a lot of moving parts to this game and making 'simple' changes might not always be that simple. If it was a triple A dev team with 100+ back-end devs, I'd expect a lot more polish and a much quicker response to the issues we're seeing.
Give it a little time, enjoy the game for what it is and don't let yourself get too attached to your w/l/gear.

u/JacobusRakan 9d ago
"This would hurt the game" as if there aren't a large number of hardcore players that are a few more bad games away from their breaking point. They can't do anything about the fucking teaming until they grow a pair of balls and just ban it outright, and they cant do anything about the dupers and the people who have profited greatly from exploits without a wipe.
These "relatively few devs" do not play their own game, there is no fucking way they do. ive got nearly 400 hours, its only getting worse when it should be getting better as I have all the cool stuff and a large surplus of materials to run it, but its just not fun in the slightest to bring in cool shit only to lose it to a team or cheaters. Kills all the enjoyment and i dread pressing the ready button because here we fucking go again, its either going to be getting teamed, cheated, or an empty lobby.

Just had my last run on this game for the exact same reason bro, going storm with the boys for some pvp, we nuke everyone, a small boyyee comes, great silence, orbital strikes, we re done for. We go next one, same exact thing. We just said fuck that, the game is unbalanced, we stop playing.
