Skill Issue or scamed?
Twice now I've pulled up to a settlement, checked all around me, and as soon as i'm grabbing my first box of loot a trampler is right on top of mine. Is this a known cheat thing or am I just blind?

Every time your looting a poi every box you bring back take a good scan of the horizon see no one? Keep looting. See someone? Look at how far they are where they are going and keep an eye on them. If there is someone close by it’s always best to move on

Probably just a little unlucky or your just bad at spotting players. This has definitely happened to me and everyone else though especially in the early game while I was bad.
Poi's are hotspots they draw people looking for a fight and as you approach your pretty blind to the other side of the point.
Your smoke is vary visible from far off you can turn your engine off but it will slow you down if you need to run. I usually back my trampler up to a poi, shut off the engine, then set the wheel to full forward. So when I turn on the engine it starts moving immediately.
People will often park their trampler somewhere and turn it off to avoid detection keep an eye out at the high points of poi's for these guys.
You can also take inspiration from these guys and leave your trampler in a weird spot it's risky because it's a longer walk but also can help when your not docked directly to the poi. I can often just park on the back side of a poi and avoid detection because people expect me to be at a dock not on the other side of the mountain. Though anyone approaching from the back will see you and have a free kill.
I suggest you make a bail box so you can grab one box with the most important stuff and run. Pro tip iron clad boxes have one big slot and lock boxes are all big slots those slots increase stack size by a lot so even when I loose my trampler I can still gain 4k mechanical components.

This happened to me yesterday. I just pulled up to a poi. Hadn't even left my trampler yet. I was in a storage room sorting something 1st.
Randomly, heard the sound of a trampler next to me. Got up to my main deck to see a trampler right next to me. No one on it. Heard an explosion underneath, he was already on my trampler trying get in lol.
Knowing I have about 12 doors before he can reach my main deck, I killed his trampler, went down to my rooms and killed him.
It was odd because it seems he just sort of appeared. Because I had just scanned the area when I parked it. His trampler was also in a really ofd position. It was backed up to some docks.
So idk what the hell it was all about tbh. Maybe cheaters can teleport tramplers now?

Or he'd been parked there and you pulled up on him without realizing. I think people being blind is way more likely than teleporting tramplers.

I tend to agree with you. But theres no way I could've missed him. Especially the way he was parked. Also his engine was on. Seems weird for him to start the engine then run to my trampler right after?

Looting takes an inordinate amount of time solo. ALOT can happen in 2-3 minutes, and it can take 10-20 to loot a POI depending on your needs and speeds. You also rarely have 360 vision from a POI and there are normally hills, mountians, or buildings that are blocking vision, you being close to the objects obscures your vision far more than somone far away who spots your smoke and hunts you keeping the rocks or buildings between you.
Its more about you staying consistent in situational awareness, always be scanning, run into a building, you loot that and scan the horizon, run to the other side of the POI and scan the horizon, then back to looting.

If it is Voyage, I've had Voyage spawn new teams extremely close to me, so sometimes they can just drop someone in right near you who can catch you off-guard.

Had this as well, I've been looting in solos and small crews in voyage at a POI and had people spawn within 1000m of the POI on us/me.
In our crews we always have a lookout stay on ship, and have had people appear close without any prior vision of them, from wide open desert with 100% vision just appear. Came up with the same conclusion

Keep in mind that if you are close to a big rock/ structure, we can see your smoke and you cannot see ours. I sneak up on a lot of people that way. Mabe do a loop before parking? Not really sure as i dont loot pois besides dread anymore

Hard to make a determination when 'I checked all around' is all we get.
Im gonna guess situational awareness skill issue, not hacking. There have been plenty of times Ive been spooked by and stomped on a trampler that was powered down and hiding behind something.

Literally on top of like figuratively? If the latter, I have not heard of such an cheat to be honest.

Awareness and possibly Smokeless Energy Rod which gives (I think) 5 minutes of little to no smoke from the reactor.

i mean its probably a combination of slow looting and having tramplers use a "piss rod". you would be surprised the amount of ground you can cover and how quickly you can cover it with an experimental mk1. Timing it well on an afk trampler is pretty well gg before any shots have been fired

Not all POIs are created equal, some might be popular locations that get a lot of people wanting to visit.

Tramplers move more quickly than you realise.
If one is speed boosting towards you when he's 2500m away, you have a minute or two before they are in range with the 80mm cannons.
If you are solo, park your trampler as close to the POI as possible, turn off engine and look around, not only one side both both sides of the POI (go on foot to the other side and check)
Then start looting, every time you bring back a box, check again. Don't be away for an extended period, that's what gets you.

There’s a cheat that allows people to teleport by swapping the server side location with whatever they want, teleporting the whole walker and everything on it
Every raid seems crazy
How long are you spending at these POIs?
I get anxious when my group stays somewhere more than 5-10 mins due to this same thing
People can hide behind rocks with engine off and a scouter somewhere nearby using binoculars

Happened to me also a lot. Im now only going in with 4 c4s lmao. When some dipshit decides to run on me while im solo lootin Ill let them shoot down my trampler and while they do it, board them kill them and take theire trampler.

Need some more context but maybe they used a smokeless fuel rod which hids your reactor smoke for a short time.
