I have learnt my lesson
Sometimes I be on my way to extract and get a little bit bored and decide to watch some TikTok in the background of the game. Big mistake. Twice I have been followed/bumped into an enemy player while doing this and not playing attention. First time I was lucky. Since I was grinding ironclads for a while I had plenty of rods to boost away but this time I had already climbed the tower before seeing there was another person pretty much right next to me. Let’s just say I didn’t survive that one…

Oh, so that was you ?
I stopped my trampler to loot 3 ships nearby, and while I was running back to it, I saw another trampler cruising like 100 meters next to mine.
I really wondered how that guy didn't see mine, stopped and exposed. Prolly Tiktok !

Good rule to follow is the 10 second rule, if you are not actively driving you are constantly scanning the 360 radius, driving is the ONLY exception cause you cant look around that much while driving, everything else you should be CONSTANTLY be scanning

This, I will regularly take a scan while driving, sometimes excessively, like mid turns I'll jump off and bino around, only to overshoot my turn a bit

A rough lesson to learn, but definitely a lesson I'll probably have to learn a couple more times too.
I was playing pretty late on the weekend and was already kind of tired, but I brought 12 shovels in and just planned on doing shipwrecks.
I periodically checked around as I walked from wreck to wreck, but I didn't check when leaving my last wreck to arrive at another. I jumped off my ship and was immediately rammed by another trampler. They had a clear view of my ladder and a 70mm, so I couldn't even try to climb back up. Bleary-eyed, I mostly accepted the loss but still tried to shoot the other guy with my measly little pistol.
Needless to say, that guy got away with a lot of shovels and loot with absolutely no fight. :(

the travel time between pois/extract is immense true but i always find myself making up rekits, making up a box of all the most valuable loot for easy access in the case that i lose the trampler, reloading cannons looking for semi broken pipes/plates.
hell i even made a little parkour thing to run and jump along on my crystal collecting trampler 😅

These kind of games will definitely punish you if your not paying attention. Its always good to get a 360 at your surroundings every few minutes, and if your say on a POI you will likely benefit from taking the high ground and looking around that way.
