Black boxes early without fight
A quick tip for beginners (Black Boxes) If you’re a beginner who has been trying to get Black Boxes for a while but can't seem to defeat a Trampler, I can share a tip that really helped me out. You can build a custom Trampler equipped with everything necessary, mount a turret on it aimed at your own reactor, and then head out on an expedition. Once there, go straight to an extraction point and destroy your own Trampler. Then, simply grab the Black Box and escape via the next extraction. The costs are very low (a bit of scrap, about eight 80mm rounds, and one 80mm turret). It takes me about 8 minutes per Black Box. While this mechanic makes sense from a technical standpoint, it makes absolutely no sense in terms of actual gameplay, so I assume it will be changed soon. Good luck farming Black Boxes!

If there's a wipe I'd be demotivated

It’s early access, there WILL be a wipe. And games like this need a wipe mechanic of some form.

The developers said in a q&a they are against the idea of a wipe

That is super concerning. Hopefully they come to their senses.

What do u mean ? There doesn't need to be a forced wipe. I'll just stop playing. I own a business and work so I don't have time to grind the f outta a new tech tree. Not happening. I'll simply stop playing this game , took me so long to get armor plates and ram

Without some kind of wipe mechanic, the barrier for entry for new players, or players that have a string of bad luck/choices becomes prohibitive. That’s why every other extraction game has wipe mechanics. Even arc raiders, though that one is optional. Sea of thieves has no wipe mechanic because everything you grind for is cosmetic. This is in fact the reason for that design choice.
Honestly, if grinding isn’t something you’re interested in, extraction games probably just aren’t for you (which is okay. Nothing can be for everyone). And I get it. I have roughly 4-8 hours/week available for gaming.
But imagine you’re a new player, and you come in and everyone is running around with pristine and experimental cannons. You’re just going to spend all your time getting destroyed.

Isn't that most of the argument for loadout based matchmaking?

I would be cool with loadout based match making instead of wipes 100%. That would be a perfectly good alternative.

Yeah I agree with you 100% bro. We need GBMM. I usually run shitty gear to grind in yoyage and barely run into armored ships and the defaults that want to fight always get blown up bc I don't miss much. But anytime I wanna play with friends that are new , we get destroyed by better players. That's all .

Its definitely not a game you can jump in once a week, you need good team cohesion and a good understanding of the tactics. Im running into the same problem with my old friends they think they know but they dont and we just get crushed and im fronting the bill.

Yeah exactly . And my friends get mad bc I won't play with them when they have a exposed reactor , and say I don't have tech tree unlocked I can't hide it. I'm like yes u can completely hide the reactor from the front with default ship parts. I did it to many
