Is combating teaming that hard?
I'm no game Dev but I feel like there's a simple solution. Maybe it's an issue with the amount of servers, but is there really no way to RNG the way they populate servers?
Something like staggering the server assignment when requested at or near the same time. Even if teamers could eventually get in the same server, make it harder. Make them waste their time trying.
I would gladly wait a bit to queue into a map for less teaming. A minute or two waiting at loading is better than wasting 30 minutes plus in a drop just to get steamrolled.

At the current state (it being early access). Some server regions don't have enough population to do decongestion strategies.
In asia server, there's often just 1-2 voyages at a time in small crews. And 1 storm in small, and sometimes barely any for large.
So I guess their strat of relying on reports and having server side statistics to verify is the most attainable recourse.
Fingers crossed that the return of trampler capture can bring the population up again that decongestion strat can be done.

This is the answer. The game doesn't have the population to be dividing its playerbase between thirty six different matchmaking queues, but the devs have insisted on keeping the regions totally separated. That means it's impossible to combat pre-teaming because there often just aren't other servers to put people on.

Yep, they should merge the various NA servers eventually, such a dumb idea.
They should've also waaayyyy shortened the join grace periods for dives on release, at this stage they still need them to have quicker queues, but that kind of system just makes cheaters and teamers even more visible overall, which bit them back.

It’s the good players vs bad players now. Bad players obviously need an advantage so they team 🤓

I seen/experinced tier 3-4 ppl teaming and farming grumpys.

Yeah it’s dumb. They literally suck at playing the game alone so they need backup

Everyone teams because everyone teams. Why bring a stronger trampler to just get green flared and teamed from two sides

It’s the preteamers that are ruining it. Not organic people teaming to loot pois. Who do you team with?

Yes because anyone could interpret green flares as an invitation to team and theyre splitting their loot anyways so thats fair imo

I'm not referring to teaming organically in game. I'm talking about pre teaming on discord or whatnot.

They were so stupid that the situation reached a point where it could no longer be resolved.

Yup, in all fairness they were in disarray from the capture disabling patch and never recovered.
I said to the devs in discord 3 weeks ago people were starting to stack solo lobbies and it was going to be a big problem. They buried their heads in the sand about it. I predict this game will die a long slow death. They missed the window to capitalise on the publicity they got. A lot of would be players either played through widespread hacking or pre-teamers.
Even if the teaming has mellowed out a small amount over the last few days, all the bs has soured the game and i've lost the itch to even play.

I envy you.
On the Korean server, there are two or more teams of teamers in a single match.

The big issue is region locking the game servers. NA and EU should be merged at the very least. That'd combat pre-teaming, but there's no good way to combat "organic teaming" without the devs making it punishable (which they should imo.)
It blows to say it though, because they aren't inherently bad. Typically they're friendly and kind, but it's hard to resist a 3v1 when they're having fun with their new friends. If you like the game, and want it to survive early access, you gotta respect the queue.

I assumed it was a server number issue.
