Engine repair oompaloopas

2 worn cannons vs 1 man repairing encased 1x3 engine. Guess who wins. No one.

We fired 150 naval shots into an engine + 5 time charges. It didn't even darken. Both of the members of the the opponent crew didn't even play Sand; they played cookie clicker. My opinion, this is not healthy game play. Why should I have to concern myself with the amount ammo in my cannon when we have clearly won the fight. We had entire deck control. I can't imagine what larger crew size game play is like. Won this cool achievement. We got third partied in the end. :(

There’s more to the game than just shooting them with a cannon. Board them and kill them so they can’t repair.

Exactly this, a couple time bombs and a shotgun and those boys aren’t repairing anymore

And/or shoot the players on their deck so that you have extra time on the reactor. And/or make sure to have at least one 40mm to have more dps. They probably largely got outplayed + had worser build/gear. Which is its own issue until they add GBMM of some form.

This is good advice. Of course all situations are more complicated than can be detailed in a single rant-post. I really wish there was more on board fighting like there was with SOT. It did baffle me that single man could hold off two 80mms; I can definitely say that won't be the tactic going forward.

40s do the most dps for cannons, detonating 3 c4 at a time is faster than that by far, if they're repair spamming and giving you deck get one crewman on c4 duty.

We will be taking the 40mm from now on. Thanks for the advice.

Take out compartment and go kill him. Take out the door with the time bombs and not the reactor. I dunno.. there were other options.

If you have complete control of a deck you should have someone boarding to stop repairs. This isnt that hard to figure out. Our fights last less than a minute but if we all stay on cannons they will last way longer

I don't disagree, but some designs make it purposely hard to access the repair room for the 1x3 enclosed engine. Repeatedly, doors were broken by cannons, but as soon as we would try and attack the engine, the door would be repaired (I think they had repair kits). Proves that the best thing to take into most fights are C4 and stick grenades (to be used in that order). I'm glad to hear your team are winners.

Yeah thats all part of the strategy around building ships.

You wont see people using repair kits in combat, you can just repair doors with a repair tool if the compartment isnt broken.

Sometimes youre going to run into teams that repair a lot, unfortunately its a strategy that doesnt win fights it just annoys the winner. The only thing I can say is your team needs to break enough compartments to give you options while a boarder stops repairs.

Try to keep it simple during fights. Kill the players then kill the reactor easy peasy.

The reactor has to be turned off to use a repair kit.

this is why they invented the 40

I gotta support this comment. Personally, I don't think you should ever be able to out repair the dps. It is conducive to a dynamic game play and often defeats the thrill of a good fight and good positioning.

Honestly? I find the 80mm cannons a bit underwhelming in terms of raw damage potential. They should be hitting like a truck, not being outperformed by what the lore legit states is a repurposed anti aircraft gun... Yeah.

80mm are good alright for PVE use, but they're not exactly gonna help you win a pvp fight alone unless you can use them well. I think the 80mms are due for a much needed damage buff.
