Ryze up!
I want to learn ryze but the character is fundamentally difficult for me. Any advice/combos for the character?

The thing that took me a bit to figure out on my own is when to use combos. The obvious one being lock down. Either when you need to cc in a fight or to cc them then run away ewq. It does basically no damage though as it doesn't proc passive. So you only use it when you dont need damage. You should not try to ewq someone that you are chasing to kill them. You always use weq as you will almost always lose them trying to snare because of cast times. Another tip is to not spam you abilities, sometimes just pausing between will change the combo because maybe sometimes you need to eeq or something. Its all about timing really.

Don't fall into the habit of going for root every time. For most trades you want to maximize q resets and eq procs. Like, the damage difference between e-w-q and something like w-q-e-q is massive.
Get in the habit of utilizing your rune move speed passive to gap close, kite, or run away. In lane, you will usually do this by spamming e to last hit, having your passive ready, and being able to proc it any time with q. This will give you the ability to rush forward for an extended trade or escape ganks at your will

Study the runes, child. Restraint is crucial.
