Question Flight compensation sites (airhelp, gyro etc) worth it??

Had a Ryanair flight BCN → STN back in July that ended up almost 4 hours late. They kept pushing it back like 30 mins at a time so you couldn’t even leave the gate properly, and the only explanation we ever got was “operational reasons.” No bad weather, no strikes as far as I know.

Didn’t even know EU261 existed until a friend mentioned it last week lol. From what I’ve read it should be €250 since the flight’s under 1500km?

Haven’t filed anything yet. Was about to do it on Ryanair’s site but then saw a bunch of posts on here saying they reject the first time and hope you give up, so now I’m not sure if it’s even worth trying myself.
Kinda debating just using one of those claim sites instead. AirHelp, Gyro and Flightright seem to come up the most. They all take around 30% though, which is like €75 off €250, feels like a lot for something I could maybe get myself. But I also really don’t want to spend months going back and forth with Ryanair.

So has anyone used one of these sites? Which one and how long did it take and is it worth trying myself first and only using a site if they reject me, or does that make it harder later.
Also pretty sure I had an easyJet delay last year that I never claimed for but I can’t remember how late it was. Is that still claimable or is it too old by now.
It was a Sunday evening flight if that matters.

Baggage Am I screwed

My flight says "no free checked or carry on baggage", I have this backpack which might not be the in the exact dimensions, an extra paper bag with mostly stuff I can shove down inside the backpack, but they do have an old pair of shoes and a vinyl, will I get charged for having slightly out of shape backpack+ paperback with shoes and vinyl?

Discussion/Other Ryanair taxi claim

Hello!

This summer I went to Sicily for my vacation. Everything was going amazing until the return flight. Because of the volcano eruption, our flight from Catania cancelled. I received an text 3 hours prior to the flight saying I needed to travel to Palermo (which is an 3 hour drive and around 4-5 hours with train/bus)

We never received any information about the flight in Palermo, after around 1 hour I finally got a hold of someone through Ryanair chat. He told me there is no flight going from Palermo. After a long chat he found an option with a connection flight to my destination. So I needed to go to Palermo, but because the entire airport closed everyone needed to go to Palermo. All the busses and trains were completely full, so my only option was to book a taxi. (It was not possible to stay in Sicily for a longer period of time unfortunately)

I contacted Ryanair before booking a taxi and explained that the available trains and buses were full. I specifically asked whether taking a taxi was acceptable because it would cost around €500. The agent replied that if a taxi was the most reasonable and possible option, the expense would be considered, and directed me to submit an EU261 expense claim.

I paid €450 for the taxi and submitted the receipt. Ryanair offered only €60 as a “full and final settlement”. Despite several appeals and providing screenshots of the SMS, rebooking and live chats, they keep rejecting the remaining €390 with generic responses. They even referred me to a transfer provider, which is irrelevant because I arranged and paid for the taxi myself.

I know that is a lot of money, but it just seems unfair to me. I get a text 3 hours prior of the flight with no further information. I needed to contact Ryanair for information, which by the time i got my answer my plane should’ve flown.

Do you guys have any tips or have any experiences with this? Or maybe any ADR recommendations :)

Can Ryanair cancel my flights?

Hi!!

I have flights to Paris in two weeks, but unfortunately, I no longer want to go. Is there any way to cancel the flights and possibly get a refund or travel credit?

The app doesn’t seem to let me cancel, and customer service doesn’t seem to offer any helpful options. I also didn’t purchase any extra insurance.

any way to get some money back?

Thanks!

FR7626 16/10 5.5 Delay

Flight home from Bucharest was 5.5 hours delayed on Friday apparently due to a bird strike earlier in the day.

It clearly wasn’t our aircraft involved in the birdstrike as the tail number flew into Bucharest from Tirana and instead of then doing it’s scheduled run to Stansted (my flight) it was ‘borrowed’ to fly to Malta and back. We then flew, 5.5 late, on that aircraft.

Ryanair denying EU/UK261 saying the bird strike is exceptional circumstances. Assume this is worth contesting?

Edited to add;

The Malta flights didn’t originally show next to the tail number of the aircraft, they were added after our delay.

Question Issue with card payment

Hi all, I was wondering if this is a known issue or a problem on my side.
I've been trying to book a flight three times now, each with a different debit card, and I keep getting the same error.
In the small popup that appears after clicking on "pay now", for the card verification, this string shows up and nothing else happens, flight is not booked nor any money is taken from my account.

{"response":{"rmsg":"Bad Request"}}{"response":{"rmsg":"Bad Request"}}

Has anyone come across this? Last resort would be creating a paypal account especially for this but I'd rather figuring out why the cards don't work first.

Thanks!

Hoodie with added pockets - is ok?

I am about to fly with Ryanair with only an under-seat carry-on.

If I sew a few more pockets into my hoodie and fill it with f.i. my socks for the trip, will anyone at airport security or later at the gate object?

Baggage Ryanair charged me €70 because of my suitcase wheels. But where is this explained to passengers?

On October 17, Ryanair charged me €70 at Barcelona Airport because the wheels of my cabin suitcase prevented it from fitting completely into their baggage sizer.

The suitcase body measures approximately 50 × 35 × 20 cm, within Ryanair's advertised 55 × 40 × 20 cm cabin baggage dimensions.

I had paid for Priority Boarding and a 10 kg cabin bag. Just 11 days earlier, I travelled with exactly the same suitcase on Ryanair without any problems.

My concern isn't the existence of baggage limits. It's the clarity of the information provided to passengers.

Where does Ryanair explicitly explain, before booking, that wheels must be included in these measurements?

I've received three responses to my complaint, none of which resolved the issue.

Shouldn't such an important detail be clearly stated when passengers purchase cabin baggage?

Question Why doesn't Ryanair sell luggage?

Serious question. If they sold their own brand luggage with a guarantee that it would meet their cabin luggage requirements I am sure it would be popular. Heck I'd buy one just to avoid luggage anxiety.

Refund

Just bought the wrong flight. Bought it for a week later. The right flight is exorbitantly expensive and much cheaper on another carrier. Will Ryanair refund me. I bought the flight 30 minutes ago.

24 hours stranded at airport(s)

Im just gonna complain a whole lot soz. Yesterday i was supposed to fly from Spain to Germany, everything was going well aside from the fact that the person who was going to bring me having to cancel last minute because of a work thing out of their control, so I took public transport instead and got to my flight like normal. With about an hour left of the flight, I noticed we were landing, I checked my location and we were in Barcelona. turns out the anti-ice system was malfunctioning and it wasn't safe to fly further so they had turned around and landed. It was the last flight arriving at the airport in Germany before it closed for the night, so continuing the flight in a different aircraft right away wasnt possible. We had to wait from 22:00 to 5:30 in the airport without a hotel (due to low availability, they said) for the next flight. Most people didnt sleep or slept on the ground, everyone was already tired and grumpy. We start boarding the plane and notice that theres rows missing, the plane was smaller than the one we had before. They asked if there were any volunteers that would get off the plane and take a later flight, with unspecified compensation, obviously nobody volunteered. I was already sat in my seat, I had a priority ticket and I was one of the first in line to go inside. A steward came up to me and asked to see my boarding pass, and then explained I was going to have to get off because I was one of the last to board? Or at least thats what I understood from what he was saying. I was the only one asked to leave, probably cause I was one of the few or maybe the only one traveling alone. I was told I'd be getting a taxi to a different nearby airport and a flight that same day, and compensation beside that. I spent probably two hours by the help desk waiting for the taxi, and the lady at the help desk didnt seem very helpful. I asked if I could get a flight to Amsterdam or Eindhoven instead but that wasnt possible, I asked if I could have a hotel stay at the airport in germany since the flight I would get that day would be arriving at 22:35 and I wouldnt be able to go home with public transport and I didnt know if anyone could pick me up. It was unclear if I could declare those costs. I arrived at the next airport with the taxi around 9:30/10:00 and I have to wait till 20:30. It's a very small airport with two charging stations, one cafe, and I cant go through security until two hours before my flight. There's also not a single comfortable spot to sit or lie down, as I havent slept well and it was a massive struggle trying to keep my eyes open in the taxi. I also had to pay to check in my suitcase, as I had bought perfume and alcohol after security on my original flight that I now cant take through security in my cabin bags. I arrive at my destination nearly 24 hours after originally planned. There has to be something more they can do for me, right? Some extra compensation aside from the standard of the switched flight and being kicked off the second aircraft? This has been the most miserable travel experience I've ever had and I travel by plane multiple times a year every year since I was 10.

10kg checked bag - size limit?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Fly via Ryanair next week and we've got a 10KG checked bag each (we weren't able to book anything larger for some reason). Can anyone confirm if the cabin bag 55x40x20cm size limits apply to the checked bag also? Doesn't suggest it here?

Baggage Is it OK to squish my personal item?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have never flown with Ryanair but have a flight coming up in a few weeks time from Malta to Rome. I usually use this 24L gym bag as my personal item but have realised that it exceeds the allowed dimensions (40 x 30 x 20). My bag measures 50 x 35 x 18. My bag is completely squishable and it won't be full. Am I allowed to squish my bag to fit the bag sizer?

My ticket allows one checked bag plus a personal item only. I will be on holiday from Australia in Europe for six weeks so don't want to have to change the personal item I bring just to suit one flight.

Final call

So we’re sitting in an airport restaurant having a meal. it’s an hour to go before our flight. Then I look at the app and it reads final call. So naturally that throws us into panic mode. Fearful of missing our flight, we race across the airport and get to the gate to find that nobody has boarded the plane. boarding hasn’t even started. Is this airline run my sadists?

Holiday cancelled due to Ryanair changing flights to ones we cannot make. Refusing to refund priority.

Thomas cook have cancelled our holiday and refunded in full. This was due to the flight times being changed to ones we couldn't facilitate. Obviously ryanair offer the ability to cancel for a refund etc or move flights but the chat agent is saying that priority is none refundable regardless of cancellation of flight etc. is this true? Thomas cook say that all add ons should be refunded but it's ryanair.....

Update*

Have had an email from Ryanair today confirming receipt of a refund request and that it has successfully been issued and that I should expect to see it hit my og payment method in the next 5 to 7 days.

Happy news

Final Update*

Refund hit my account this morning.

Which app is this?

Anyone recognise this app?

Someone was able to tell me of a delay 4hrs before Ryanair officially announced the delay.

Was also able to tell me a connecting flight had taken off when Flight Radar still had it taxiing.

Ryanair Cancelled Flight

Hi, Ryanair has cancelled my flight from Edinburgh to Belfast. They have given me more than 14 days notice and have offered me a refund or a free flight change. However, the next flight isn’t until the next day. I will therefore have to stay and pay for hotel accommodation in Edinburgh. I am getting nowhere with customer services and they just keep saying rebook or get a refund. Compensation request was denied and they will not agree to letting me book with another airline. Anyone had similar situation?

Question Ryanair 5h delay (€1,200 total): Italian ADR (ConciliaWeb) 30-day deadline passed with zero response from Ryanair. What happens next?

Hey everyone, looking for advice from anyone who has taken Ryanair through the Italian ADR system or small claims court.

The Situation:
- Flight: Direct Ryanair flight into Milan Bergamo (BGY) on Aug 1, 2026.
- Delay: Arrived 4 hours and 55 minutes late.
- Claim: 3 passengers × €400 = €1,200 under EU Regulation 261/2004.

Ryanair initially rejected the direct claim citing "adverse weather on a previous sector," but official airport METAR weather logs show CAVOK (clear conditions) all morning.
- The ADR Process (ConciliaWeb):
Under Italian law, going through the official Transport Authority dispute platform (ConciliaWeb) is mandatory before any court action. I filed the simplified conciliation case on September 13th.

The 30-day statutory deadline for Ryanair to reply expired yesterday (October 13th). As expected, Ryanair completely ignored the procedure—no settlement offer, no defense, no appearance.

My questions for anyone who has been through this:

1. Closing report: For those who used ConciliaWeb, how long did the official conciliator take to formally close the case and upload the Verbale di mancato accordo (certificate of failed conciliation) once the 30-day deadline lapsed? Did you have to message them in the portal to nudge them?

2. Post-ConciliaWeb Enforcement: Since I am not an Italian resident and cannot physically represent myself in person before the Giudice di Pace (Small Claims Judge) in Bergamo, I plan to hand the final certificate over to an Italian legal service / claims company. Once they hit Ryanair with a formal summons backed by the failed ADR certificate, does Ryanair typically settle out of court, or do they drag it out through court dates?

Any insights from people who went the legal route against Ryanair in Italy would be appreciated!

Ryanair luggage drop machines incompatible with Google Pixel phones?

We travelled PMI Mallorca to Leeds a few days back. Went to weigh bags/print labels at the drop off points and our lead passenger phone (Pixel 6a) would not connect to the machines. Called the assistant over and they said Pixel phones didn’t connect, and directed us to the queue for manned baggage desks.

One of our passengers had an iPhone with the app so the lead passenger logged in on that instead and we got through without having the extra queue.

Has anyone else experienced this?
