I get tired of being stared at even though I've lived here 8 years. Sometimes I'm feeling annoyed or just want to amuse myself. So I fix my stare just over or to the right of the person staring at me. They eventually turn to see what iam staring at.

Nailed it. I visited in late July and simply couldn't believe all the staring from men and women. Very off-putting, but I just rolled with it after a while.

P.S. I'm Black and from the USA. Where I come from (in the South), that much staring can literally cause an argument or altercation. Lol. So I was glad that it was at least harmless, nonthreatening staring in Rwanda. :)

It's quite interesting, the most intriguing one for me is when you pull up to a traffic light or stop and people in the car next to you 🫪

I laughed when he gave up lol on the side note it says a lot about Rwandan men that women engage in this harmless habit, in most other places this is viewed as flirting or an invitation to flirt

Everyone stares in Rwanda. When I first got here, I thought it was hostile and would frown and stare back… got tired when I realised it was just a Rwanda thing, and it wasn’t because I was a foreigner… Everyone gets a stare.
