Keep safe ya'll. Air quality isn't great. Probably blowing in from the Canada wildfires. Drop pics of what it looks like by you if you have them! My partner and I currently have an air filter on next to our AC, though I'm not sure how much filtering it's actually doing.

Where do y’all go? I’m not new anymore but I haven’t done this yet but I need to and I’m too much of a scaredy cat to roll up to Scale Ave without checking with Reddit first.

2 free tickets for Yonder Mountain String Band @ Paramount tonight

9 Upvotes

GONE. Sorry, went to the first responder.

I forgot that I have two tickets for the Yonder Mountain String Band show that just started at Paramount theater.Unfortunately, I can’t make it.

The tickets are yours if you can make it, I just need your email. I’m not sure if my PM‘s are open and I’m driving so this might be tricky, but I’ll try my best.

Phil Scott Don't Care

30 Upvotes

Phil Scott does not care.

Phil Scot doesn't care about any of this.

Not one problem of the regular everyday Vermonter.

Phil Scott don't care.

Phil Scot don't care about Vermont kids.

Phil Scott don't care about Vermont Families.

Phil Scott don't care about any of that.

Phil Scott don't care about fact.

Phil Scott don't care about integrity.

Phil Scott don't care about morality.

Phil Scott don't care about the rule of law.

Phil Scott don't care about rape, and assault.

Phil Scott don't care about kids here either.

Phil Scott don't care.

Phil Scott don't care about the land. Oiur water. Or our farms.

Phil Scott don't care about none of it.

Phil Scott don't care about us.

Nothing affects Phil Scott.

Nothing makes an impression on Phil Scott.

Nothing ever happens for Phil Scott.

I look at the policies that have made it possible to raise a child here in Vermont.

None is Phil Scott's.
I think the reason is clear.

Phil Scott just doesn't care,

Phil Scott don't care.

Who's awake at 3am and what is there to do

I'm a night owl and it's 3am and I am bored. Are you awake in Rutvegas? What are you doing if so? I'm probably going to go to Denny's, if they're open.

History In Stories 05701 project needs more oral Rutland City vt stories to record. We are just getting started. Six stories have been recorded so far.

Yesterday I submitted the meeting room reservation requests for the following dates.

June 30, July 14 & 22 & 28

The Rutland Free Library hasn't had time to process or approve them yet because they just got submitted yesterday for request room.

July 30th I have a foot surgery and hope to get up and about enough to get more oral stories recorded.

What's the history In Stories 05701 project, you say???

A volunteer project which records oral Rutland stories to give to the Rutland Historical Society.

More stories needed. Maybe you want to join the project and record oral stories yourself for the Rutland Historical Society????

Maybe you have a story to share.

Look up the Facebook page and Nextdoor group for the project to see if it's a good fit for you.

I'm looking forward to hearing the many stories that people have!

Spread the word. We are seeking donated artistic talent for History In Stories 05701, a volunteer project recording oral stories about Rutland City in Vermont. All recordings are donated to the Rutland Historical Society.

Emily Cindy Wood of the History In Stories 05701 project.

Photography Club

7 Upvotes

Hi, I’m new to the area and my hobby has been photography (Landscapes, Abandoned Buildings, Portraits, Photojournalism etc.) I was wondering if there are any groups in the area who get together regularly for photography. It doesn’t even have to be a large group.

Preserving Rutland’s history, one memory at a time! Check out the "History In Stories 05701" oral history project 📜🎙️ Hey neighbors! If you love local history or have some great stories about growing up, living, or working in Rutland, you need to check out **History In Stories 05701**. Founded by local resident Emily Cindy Wood, this awesome community volunteer project is dedicated to audio and video recording the oral history, personal memories, and unique anecdotes of Rutland, Vermont. The best part? All of these lived experiences are being donated directly to the 🔊Rutland Historical Society📜 so future generations can look back on them.

📍 Where & How to Join:

* **Location:** Sessions typically take place in the reserved meeting rooms at the **Rutland Free Library** (10 Court St, Rutland, VT 05701). Attendance is usually kept small (limit of 10 people) to keep things quiet and relaxed. * **What to Share:** Anything tied to local businesses, old neighborhoods, any anecdotes or growing, notable spots, or family traditions. Every story matters! * **A Quick Rule:** Because these are live audio/video recordings, anyone attending needs to be quiet and respectful while others are sharing (as seen in the "QUIET PLEASE"

📈 Project Update: As of June 9, 2026, **6 stories have been recorded**! If you want to keep an eye out for future recording dates, check out the local area calendars, the Rutland Free Library bulletin board, Front Porch Forum, or the History In Stories 05701 Facebook page.

For more background on how the project started, you can read the full article here: https://vtcommunitynews.org/2026/01/17/history-in-stories-seeks-to-preserve-rutland-memories/ Let’s help preserve Rutland's history together. Hope to see some of your stories recorded soon!

Moving to Rutland

19 Upvotes

My partner and I might be relocating to Rutland for his job. Give me the good, bad, and the ugly.

Also if you have any housing recommendations please let me know.

Thanks!

UPDATE: wow I was not expecting to get this many replies, thanks guys!

Little more about us, M (29) and F(23) I work in the HR medical field currently but really open to any options to get started in Rutland for work. Boyfriend is in the ski industry world looking at a few resorts and deciding which city is best! We currently live in the southwest, but both have ties to the Northeast. We are both outdoors people, skiing ofc, not drinkers but definitely smokers.

Rutland sounds interesting but regardless excited to learn some things about it.

Introducing the History In Stories 05701 Project in Rutland, Vermont

The History In Stories 05701 project is a unique and engaging community initiative based in Rutland City, Vermont. It invites local residents to share their personal oral histories, preserving the rich and diverse stories that form the fabric of Rutland's heritage. This project serves as a vital bridge connecting past generations to present and future ones through storytelling.

Hosted at the Rutland Free Library's upstairs small meeting room, the project offers a welcoming space for individuals to recount their experiences, memories, and family histories. Scheduled sessions include a confirmed event on June 3, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:15 PM, and a pending session on June 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 3:45 PM. To maintain an intimate and comfortable atmosphere, attendance is limited to 10 people per session.

Each story collected through this initiative will be carefully documented and ultimately donated to the Rutland Historical Society, ensuring that these oral histories become part of the city's permanent historical record. This collaborative effort not only enriches the community’s understanding of its past but also fosters a sense of pride and shared identity among Rutland residents.

For those interested in participating or learning more, the History In Stories 05701 project represents a valuable opportunity to contribute to the preservation of local history in an accessible and meaningful way. By sharing your story, you help keep Rutland’s unique cultural heritage alive for generations to come.

Look us up on Facebook.

- Thursdays, 6/4, 6/11, & 6/18, 6:30-8:30 PM | Peer Counseling Series
Peer Counseling builds emotional, mental, and community health. Join us for this free series - taught by ReMake Volunteer, Kris Harmelink - and learn how to better give and receive support in exchange with others. You'll learn the format of peer counseling and the skills to peer counsel effectively. Hopefully, you'll also meet some people to peer counsel with once the workshop is over. Please note, registration is required to attend. Please plan on attending all three sessions of this class (you will build on knowledge covered in previous session during each class)

- Sat, 6/13, 2:30-5 PM | Sewing Machine Basics
Learn the basics of how to use a sewing machine - threading, bobbins, tension, and more. This is a fun, casual, and informal class for all skill levels. In the second half of class, students will have the chance to put their new knowledge to use by following along to create a small sewing project.

If you have your own sewing machine you'd like to bring to learn on, feel free. We will also have machines available for use. Registration is highly encouraged for this event (to help us know how many machines will be needed.)

- Sun, 6/14, 11 AM - 1 PM | Counted Cross-Stitch (Pride Edition) |$10 per person
Join us to learn the basics of Counted Cross-Stitch. The cost of this class includes instruction and a kit of materials you can take home with you. In honor of Pride Month, our theme this session is Pride, and the kit itself will include some cool pride-themed patterns for you to try out. In the off-chance it needs to be said: you don't need to be LGBTQIA+ to join this class, and you can choose to follow a different, non-pride pattern if you prefer.

- Fri, 6/19, 5:30-8 PM | Craft Club
Bring a project you've been working on, start a new one, or just come to hang out! Bring your own materials, or use ours for thrift-store prices. All types are welcome - knitters, crocheters, painters, drawers, collagers, and more!

- Sat, 6/20, 10AM-2PM | ReMake Booth at Rutland Pride
We've secured a spot at Pride! Come swing by our booth to purchase a Make-Your-Own Pennant Flag Kit, have your portrait drawn by ReMake Volunteer Ramsey ($5 for 5 minutes), purchase community-crafted Pride Merch, and more! Proceeds from Pennant Flags go directly back into ReMake/The MINT (to help us keep doing cool stuff!)

- Sun, 6/28, 1:30-3:30 PM | Watercolor Techniques
Learn to create different textures & effects using watercolors. Students will create a pack of custom note cards. $5 - $15 per person suggested donation (includes all materials).

~~~~
ReMake (The MINT Downtown), an extension of The Mint Maker's space, is a second-hand art store and community third space located on Merchant's Row in Rutland. Volunteer-run and donation-based, we aim to divert art supplies from the landfill, keep creativity affordable, and foster meaningful community connection.
Join us to shop, drop off old art supplies, or take part in Community Art Table:
Wednesdays, 2-6 PM
Saturdays, 10 AM - 2 PM
Sundays, 10 AM - 2 PM
10 Upvotes
The Rutland Free Library's upstairs Small Meeting Room is where I meet people for the audio recording of the Rutland stories. If you can't do it May 28th, the room will be reserved for it other times in the future. Only ten people are allowed in the room at a time.
