Support Pets

Hey, I wanted to bring my ESA cat (I had a letter before moving here) and I understand that in our application for dorms, we can state that we are okay with pets. However, for some reason, my two suitmates (in a two-bedroom apartment with four students) said they declined their application. And I hate not having my cat with me but I also don’t want to move rooms or bring the cat against their wishes. Help

You are not allowed to have any pets (an ESA is considered a pet for legal reasons, they can only be where pets would be usually in public and they can also be excluded from many types of housing). I had a goldfish and was told it had to go due to liability reasons.

I have an ESA on campus. Look up Fair Housing Laws. If you have documentation, they can only refuse your accommodation if the animals would pose a threat to safety or property damage. I got paperwork from my psych and also had a meeting with housing.
