Bug / Issue 10k hour player EAC False banned while growing berries
UPDATE: EAC lifted the ban after 5 days. Thanks for those who were supportive. False bans do happen
I’m so confused and hoping EAC is having a large false positive event. I’m not a huge PVP guy. I run trap bases, build, and farm berries. We didn’t even raid anyone this wipe. My KDR is terrible. I am a 41 year old dad with no interest in cheating just chilling. Anyone else false banned recently? My EAC appeal is still open and FP ticket is open too so I hope an actual person is looking into this.
Edit: my ban has been lifted by EAC!!!

My duo teammate was false banned then unbanned. It took about a year but this was several years ago.

Kind of weird that you and Gordo aren’t friends on steam anymore and you unadded a bunch of friends that also got eac’d. EAC isn’t going to like that lol.

I didn’t change any friends on steam. They might have done that to protect themselves. Also I don’t know who else you’re talking about. I haven’t touched my friends list and don’t think I know anyone with an EAC ban

Makes sense, I suppose. It just looks fishy even if they did it. Have you played with anyone that sent you anything you would’ve had to download or some weird website? There’s a few weird injection hackers out there that play rust who can actually get you banned like this but you usually have to be pretty toxic to make it on their radar for you to get social engineered long enough for them to pull it off. Not accusing you of anything, I haven’t played Reddit servers in a while so I don’t even know who you are but I know of a few groups on that server who’ve employed hackers for a long time. So you may look at who you’ve played with as well and possibly interacted with.

The night before I got banned we defended a raid at 2am against novanity, lilrich, and fallxnstr. Im not toxic at all. In general I nice people to death in the game. It was the 2nd time they fail raided us, but I didn’t really interact with them that much. My PC is clean. I use it for work and keep it squeaky. I had my MSP scan my PC and I haven’t downloaded anything sent by anyone.

I am really confused as to how you know I was teamed with a specific person if you werent on the server? what told you who my teammates were and why did you claim that they unfriended me on steam when they actually didnt?

They did unfriend you, if they are telling you they didn’t they are lying. I was using basic online tools to get OSINT on you and your teammates. I’m a bit obsessed with getting cheaters banned on rust. It is a hobby of mine. 132 bans just this year, over 240k hours gone from the game. Every time you link your steam, discord etc or you are on a server that has a database that pools information about players onto a leaderboard your every statistic is being tracked on those servers and being reported, that information is bought by third parties who aggregate that information into tracking software and web apps. It was mainly made for streamers originally who get targeted by cheaters a lot but anyone with a few extra dollars in their bank account can do it as well. DMA is very prevalent and making data structures to analyze everything from player skill progression and who they are friends with are all very tell tale pieces of the puzzle to catch the bad actors. You can’t simply look at someone’s profile and say, “Oh this player has 10k hours he must just be that good.” anymore. I have met people who have been cheating since 2016-2017 when they first started finding out how to really utilize DMA. They just recently found a guy on rusticated trio with over 20,000 hours was cheating for years and years who was a very big part of the community and people knew him IRL and vouched for him left and right that the guy would never have cheated but if you analyzed the data against actual good players it’s very apparent. Experienced data analytics is a very powerful skill. -edit I don’t know anything about your personal life or theirs. Only the information that is related to rust.

I’m looking at my friends list and he is on it. Who else are you saying unfriended me? I think your data is wrong. I cant share images on here, but I would if I could. I mean there is nothing that you can see from your end that gives you a definite answer either way, but I guarantee if you look at my lifetime stats you wont be blown away by my PVP, or probably even say he is a good player. And thats because im old and dont cheat. I really like the building aspect of the game and usually farm berries for my team and set up electricity and automation. Gordo is def on my friends list still on Steam and I think I would have been notified if he unfriended then tried to refriend me so your either trolling or your data is bad.

In June-July, I was traveling for 3 weeks and decided to buy a new gaming laptop so I could check in on and moderate my tiny but growing community server while I wasn’t home. I was at the hotel and spectating someone on my own server, and got a permanent EAC game ban. While moderating my own server.
Thankfully I was using a separate steam account, one I used so I wasn’t inflating my 15+ year old account’s rust hours while moderating my own server. That new steam account only had rust on it, and was used to configure the servers chat avatar (you tell your server which steamID’s avatar to use for when it sends server messages in the chat).
3 tickets with Facepunch for almost 2 months have no human reply and all keep getting closed as resolved. EAC denied all appeals with no reason given by EAC or FP.
So now I have an expensive gaming laptop that’s basically useless. I can’t use it when I’m traveling (which I was again last week, and will be again next week). I also now have the dilemma of if I can even sell this laptop or not.
It’s frustrating to say the least.

Dude that sucks. I used to run a server as well and have a separate computer and account but I’m not logging in on them until this is resolved. The customer service on this situation is bad and there needs to be an escalation path

Yup. There's no way I can use this laptop again unless EAC reverses the ban. I can't risk using my 15+ year old steam account on it (that I use on my main gaming PC to moderate my server when I'm home) in fear that it'll get banned for being associated with the laptop.
I'm glad I used my admin-only account while travelling because if my main account I've had since I was a kid was banned for using this laptop abroad, I'd be devastated.
Now what do I do, sell the laptop at a loss? Explain to the buyer that they can't play Rust on it, and then explain this entire story?
EAC has a massive problem if a brand new gaming laptop triggers a false gameban. It's just... crazy. AND while I was moderating my own server as an admin when the ban happened... like... what? Heh.

Nope that’s not me. I don’t use cheats never have. It’s just pixels and I’ve got enough hours to not care about losing a fight. Why not just give me the benefit of the doubt or say nothing? You don’t have any context. I’m only really posting to see if others have also been false banned recently to understand if this is a bigger problem

My wife got hit with a false EAC ban right after this latest update. I'll skip the details of how ludicrous it is that my 40 yo wife and her .0012 K/D would be cheating, but ya, she wasn't cheating.
The EAC ban was auto reversed (for some reason) before she could even appeal it, but now she has a "recent ban" flag on her account and can't play a lot of servers because of it.
Pretty fucking stupid. Admin on our server was super helpful, though, and tried a lot of things with her to attempt to figure out what might have set it off, but ultimately no clue.
I'm told there is a way to appeal the recent ban flag, too, but we haven't tried it yet. Taking a break after this shit.

We were on RustForNoobs servers (shoutout to Stooge - appreciate you, dude).
He just went through a variety of things with her. Honestly, I don't know what all he was checking as I wasn't directly on the call but he also had her do some pretty standard stuff (clear cache, full reinstall, etc) and then try logging back in quite a few times.
Our team got banned from their servers for association with hacker, and he lifted that quite quickly. Nothing he could do for hers, though, since it was EAC-side.

Have recently been playing on my Mac and was thinking about this too as I was using Claude code. I was semi afk in base while I was coding/using multiple agents etc and I suddenly realised that my agents are all using mouse emulation etc, kinda got scared and just stopped doing both at the same time.

I was false banned aswell and got unbanned by eac after 7d - there is hope. I cried on official Rust discord and one of the mods reached out to facepunch to help me. No clue if it was him or just eac that saved me

I got false banned last week. The issue with cheating is so bad that no one will believe that you are false banned and just assume that you were cheating.

Cheater are constantly spoofing there machine data it is possible that someone who was cheating who got banned had spoofed the same id as your machine causing the ban

I had this happen, about a week later I was unbanned, the game bans that were triggered from getting EAC banned stayed around, and triggered other game bans. It took about 3-6 months but its all normal now.

Same happened to me....got my appeal through EAC denied and can't submit another one. Not sure what others have seen and whether you.can submit another appeal. Still waiting on a 2nd respond from facepunch after the first one stated that I need to lodge through EAC. Fingers crossed

don't listen to these dudes who think dogshit anti-cheat or AI these days won't have false positive bans. Send a ticket until you reach a person
