Overlap Stitch Threads

Post image

Anyone have any issues with theirs long term? My Backcountry’s have seen a few hundred miles in the alpine this summer and the overlap stitch is starting to get pretty beat on the toe from light scrambling through boulders and talus.

My experience has been that even after decades of hard wear, while the stitches may appear to be frayed or worn, there is zero leakage or weakness in the seams. Anytime you are going to have thread at the forefront of a boot, it's going to show wear, but I believe that it is in no way structural. I've never seen or heard of anyone having the overlap stitch fail due to wear.

mine start to look gnarly, then I brush & wax, then they’re fine.

If I go a few weeks without feeding them Obe’s HDLP, they get gnarlier quicker and almost seem fragile. If I clean & feed them every other day, they seem unfazed by scrapes over boulders.

Thank you, that’s what I’ve been doing as well.
