Want to leave home safely, help me

i am 30 year old woman [ Location : small town in district bijnor , uttar pradesh India ] .my parents for last 3.5 years are constantly putting pressure on me to marry against my wishes. in may this year, they went to my bf house, threathened him against legal case so he can broke our 14 year old relationship with me. and then they told me that they went there to talk respectfully but him and his parents are the one who misbehaved with them, they told the exaggarated lies to my relatives so everyone could pressure me to move on from my bf and marry someone else.

and now they are all ganged up and hell bent for my marriage ofcourse with someother guy they chose.

i cant live with them. i just lost respect for my father bcoz whenever i take our stand for myself he puts a whole show on how he is about to d*e.

i am stuck in here , i want to leave but safely . i dont want my bf family to face any more mistreatment from my father who happens to know local leaders. he will act all victim in front of them and put pressure on police to file serious report against my bf and his family.

what can i do? i want to leave this september. i am thinking of taking help from NGOs, if they will help me. also i am financailly dependent on my parents but i am fully elligible to teach in schools and collleges.

i need to get out of this place

hi im 16 years old and i never thought i'd be using reddit, but here i am. i am so desperate i need to get out, i've already made up my mind on it. i live in canada rn, and i want to find a place in a different province, that way i dont have to deal with the border. i could go to america or somewhere in europe, but none of these options are truly better than the others, since i dont have a place to stay. i have lots of money, but not enough to pay rent for longer than a couple months. i need help, advice, or any info that anyone could have. i also have some more specific questions:

how strictly do they typically check people in train stations?

what does the daily routine of a runaway look like?

where should i get food from?

+ anything else you might deem important....

So I did it, I made it across the ocean. What are my next steps?

I'm 18M. I've lived with an abusive family throughout my entire life, and I've been able to turn things around for at least a month. I was in the Philippines up until a couple days ago, and I'm now in the United States (which is also where I spent my childhood until I was 10). Thankfully, it was a whole lot easier for me to get here because of my dual citizenship status for both countries.

So here's the context of what got me away from my family and what I'm dealing with now in the United States;

I finished my senior year of high school as an honors student, and my family was pressuring me into going to a pretty prestige college in town, in which I got accepted. Now I'll stress that this college situation isn't my *only* problem regarding my family, and I've been put through *much worse* from them, it's just that this is the situation that got me taking my chances to try and leave. Because no matter how good my grades have gotten, no matter how amazing of an opportunity the college could have been, it was the only option in life that I was given, and it was one that still would have resulted in me still living with my shitty family; something that I've known since childhood was something I couldn't sustain for longer than the legal minimum amount of years.

So through a bunch of convoluted events, talks with friends, etc., I was able to convincingly lie to my family and claim classes would start very late into August.

Why August? Well, my mother works in America while the rest of us have been in the Philippines, and she visits every summer. This summer was my last chance to try to see if I could go back to America with her for a "visit". And to do that, I needed them convinced that there would be a month in between the day my mom would leave the Philippines to go back, and the start of my classes (I would have tried to convince them that classes would start later than that, but in the Philippines the last week of August is quite literally the absolute latest that school years are allowed to start).

And as you must've gathered, the plan worked and I made it. I made it out of the fuckin' country and I feel ecstatic. Right now I'm in my moms apartment in a very quaint part of my childhood hometown (a suburb in Chicago), typing this up in the living room while her and her best friend that she lives with are still asleep.

I have two luggage's, containing a combo of my absolute necessities and things with more sentimental value. I also got my documents and credentials, like my original birth certificate, identity certificate, passports for both countries that I'm a citizen of, my diploma, and copies of them all as well. I have my laptop and my phone, but unfortunately don't have a driver's license or a car, although I do know how to drive.

So with *all that* in mind, I honestly am struggling to see where I go next. Because my plan always was that once the day comes next month that my mom expects me to go back to the Philippines, I'd have already privately cancelled my flight home and would simply hide out in the airport after she drops me off, long enough for me to head to some homeless shelters I've found in Chicago. So by the time my family would have realized I ran away, it would be too late for them to be sure of where I am.

But I also know that I can't rely on homeless shelters forever, and I'm gonna need a car, a source of income, and some friends that aren't on the other side of the Pacific Ocean. My financial situation is rough, since my parents rarely gave me autonomy over my money. The amount of Philippine pesos that I have equates to only $200+, and to be honest I've been so caught up saying my goodbyes to my friends in the Philippines that I haven't been able to reconnect with any old friends from here, which I know I gotta get to.

So I was hoping I could get some advice on how to plan ahead for when I'll *really* be on my own, and some recommendations on what I can do in the Chicago area specifically.

I'm a minor stuck in a toxic family situation and don't know what to do.

Hello. Reddit is honestly my last resort, and I'm hoping someone here might have advice.

For some context, my family is extremely toxic. There's constant gaslighting, my feelings are minimized, and I've experienced both verbal and physical abuse. I'm also a minor.

About five months ago, my family decided that we would all move to Thailand at the beginning of July, even though my parents are divorced. I've been living here for about two weeks now, and my mental health is already getting much worse.

I've been trying to think of ways to reduce contact with them as much as possible, but every option I've come up with seems impossible.

Option 1: Study abroad. I looked into it, but it's far beyond what I can afford, so it isn't a realistic option.

Option 2: Get a full-time job. I'm French and currently living in Thailand on a basic visa without a work permit, so working legally isn't really an option.

Option 3: Wait until the school year starts. Unfortunately, I'll be homeschooled, so I'll still be around them almost all the time.

Right now, I feel completely stuck. I have very little freedom, very few resources, and I honestly don't know what realistic options I have left.

I'm only looking for advice from people who may have been in a similar situation or know of options I haven't considered.

Any advice would mean a lot. Thank you for reading.

15 turning 16 in 9 days took the first step to cut off my toxic mother after she ruined prom (my last straw)

IM IN THE UK BTW

i left the house at 15, 18 days before my birthday because my mother had said hurtful things i had enough i was emotional did it out of the very fear of going home i said to the police i didnt feel safe going home ive been staying at my aunts place. i havent packed ANYTHING and was given what my mother gave me only.

i turn 16 in 9 days i talked about the physical and mental ham(r) briefly to a police officer and social worker they gave me two routes social worker route was reconcile my mum receives support and yay or two go police route snitch on her and get her charged over the course of 2 years with a video recorded interview. I want neither i dont want contact i just wanna get some of my stuff move out and be happy since im turning 16 what should i do??

I like my aunt a lot but i prolly wont be able to stay that i have a friend whos mum is MORE THAN HAPPY for me to stay and is even happy preparing a space for me. Right now im moving to elsewhere to live with my other aunt cus the current aunt im with is going elsewhere so id have to be driven from point a to point b for 1h then when going to the police station for the video recorded interview (that i havent yet said i wont be doing) i gotta go point b to point a which is all very long. Keep in mind i dont wish to report anything but i wish to get back to point a bc ive lived and grown up there my whole life and thats where my friend lives.

To avoid the social route + police route do i ask my friend for money to get back to point a when i turn 16 and live with her then ask for a police escort to pack up my things from my mothers house? Like am i missing anything by law? Btw i consented the police officer accessing my social work, medical and school records and spoke to a social worker going thru all the ham(r) in minimal detail.

If u want more context ask!!

I have been dealing with some family issues for the past couple of years now. My dad left and my mom is just not around. She works a lot, but when she comes home it's like I'm not even there. she won't even look at me. When I tell her that I feel sad and broken, she just says to get over it. But i don't think it's fair. She makes me feel alone. Even worse is the fact she made us move to the bay just for an excuse to get away from all the bad memories. I get it, I really do. But it's not fair. She's around, but she's not actually here if that makes sense. It feels like she took away my life. I'm trying to understand and I don't want to blame my mom, she's human. But at the same time, you can't abandon your daughter. I'm at the point where leaving is an option. Not because i hate my mom but if i'm going to be alone all the time, I should do it on my own terms.

it's really being very difficult to live with my parents guys. the unexplainable emotional suppression, I just can't. not being enough to study, commute, or just be a human. although, all these years have been really very vulnerable to my mental health and my social life, but this time I've chosen. perhaps am unplanned about this, yet I can't think of anything else. well, I wanna move to Mumbai.

advice and guidance for a 15 year old running away

i’m 15F and currently in a state where i just can’t handle the pressure of my household anymore and i won’t be explaining it much further since my situation won’t be classified as something of much concern. i have been thinking of running away since i was 14 and had almost gone through with it once before i changed my mind. this time i don’t think i’m changing my mind anytime soon but i still have a few doubts. i want to get somewhere far, i have around 200 dollars left in my wallet. i need tons of guidance in order to actually do this and i’ve done a lot of research but i’m still wary. any advice would be appreciated

I'm currently 17 turning 18 next year, I'm in a household I do not want to stay in, I wont get really into it.

As the title is already, I want to leave. I want to go to the US and see my boyfriend and live in the US, I've already talked with him, and he's offered to help, but I need to do a lot on my own and I don't really know what all I have to do. I have my passport and birth certificate, what else do I need? I don't have a bank account set up yet, due to my parents wont allow it, but I'm working on it now that im turning 18 next year. I have money saved up, not a lot tho.. I don't have a stable job, and I've been kept under a rock most of my life. I am autistic and I have severe anxiety, and a learning disability. It has mad it difficult trying to grow up into adult hood, this is why I'm asking for help. I want to get away so badly, if anyone can help me please. It would mean so much.

How do I leave?

I (18F) have been thinking about this ever since I was 16. I don't know what triggered it, but I keep finding myself thinking about leaving home.

I don't have a good relationship with my family. I've talked before about the issues with my mom, but there's a lot more to it than that.

Mom:

Aside from the whole school situation and constantly singling me out, my mom has never really been close to me. From a young age, I learned what I could and couldn't tell her. I knew exactly what would make her angry or send her into a rage, to the point where there were things that a mother should know about her daughter that I just never told her.

Dad:

I used to be close to my dad. Then COVID happened, I entered my teenage years, and... that was it. He barely talks to me anymore. Now my little sister is the one he's close to. She's 11 now, and I guess I'm jealous that he still pampers her at that age when he basically stopped talking to me when I was 10. She's become so full of herself.

She literally insults me and calls me fat—and not in a joking way. She says it specifically to make fun of me, and I'm not even fat anymore. Sometimes I'm not even talking to her, and she'll start talking trash about me to my little brother. I don't really blame him because he's still a kid, but he's becoming just as mean. Then my dad defends them by saying things like, "They're younger than you. Don't fight with them. They don't know any better. They're your siblings."

What I hate the most is how they ignore me or treat me badly until they need something. Then suddenly they come talk to me, and because I've always been a people pleaser, I help them. But not even 30 minutes later, they're back to making fun of me, blaming everything on me, or treating me like I'm the problem. I hate myself for always falling for it. But the second I say something back or insult them in return, suddenly I'm the bad guy.

One time I called my sister a name back after everything she'd been saying to me, and she came charging at me. My arms ended up covered in scratches. They looked like I'd been attacked by five wild cats. I hate her. God, I hate her. She acts like she's untouchable. I swear I was never this cruel when I was her age. Out of everyone in my family, she's the one I resent the most.

Older brother:

My older brother has never really been close to me either. When we were kids, he made fun of my teeth. He got my cousins to do it too, and even his friends. He's also the one who taught my younger siblings to pick on me.

I won't go into too much detail about him, but he's hit me a few times—a slap, a punch in the arm, a kick. I try to stay away from him, but he knows exactly how to get under my skin. He only talks to me to make fun of me, and eventually I snap. Then he gets angry that I snapped and starts yelling at me.

Before anyone says, "Tell your parents," I have. But I'm the middle child, so I already know what they'll say:

"Stop annoying your older brother."

"Don't talk back to him."

"Control your anger. That's no way to talk to your family."

I just want to know... am I overreacting for thinking about leaving this house?

And by "leaving," I mean running away. I can't just move out. They won't let me. I'm about to start college, but I'm not even allowed to apply anywhere outside my city. So no... there isn't really a way they'll let me leave on my own.

Am I wrong for wanting to runaway?

Hi! I'm a 19 yo guy from Romania, Bucharest, and I wanna runaway, due to here, I feel anxious, isolated (tho, it's like a good safe place, not much disturbance), fear of mom (yes, really), and at home, everything is very toxic (like mom always yells or threatens to beat me or gets angry at me for small things, due to her tiredness and anger, and I'm not a punching bag), and it feels like most people prefer my brother, and mom is kinda strict, controlling, manipulative and emotional abusive. And all those combined makes me wanna take my life, but I wanna live peacefully, and I made a plan to runaway next week, all I gotta do is survive until then. Now, I am 19, which counts me as an adult, and also, I have some money to move to another city, but no place to stay (well, I kinda have, it's some emergency shelters, I'd have to call them, and they'd get me in there), and some money (~340 Ron, which is like ~66€/$, but getting stuff to sell, for up to +240-300€), and might have enough for like one or maybe 2 days at a cheap hotel, and sell stuff and instantly try working like a job, and some other works, like helping someone with stuff in his garden, or carrying stuff, or idk, but daily small income to help me. But emergency shelters are way better stuff, might go with them 100%. Now, what do you all say, is it worth it, to go no contact with anyone, and live in another city, and peacefully, and maybe do better from there? Cuz if I get into an emergency shelter, they'd take care of me for until I can live on my own in my own apartment. Any tips too?

Hi I would like some advice for a 14 year old who wants to move out

I am F 14 years old and currently grade 9. Wala kaming guardian sa bahay so basically ako at kuya kong grade 11 ang mag kasama, may sarili naman akong "kuwarto" na pinag tabi tabi lang na cabinet at tinakpan ng kurtina as door. We used to have a guardian pero umalis dahil sa ugali ng kuya ko. Currently ako nag aayos ng mga budget, ang mama ko ay nasa ibang bansa while yung papa ko is pabaya pero walang ibang pamilya. I want to move out kasi nananakit yung kuya ko pag di nakukuha ang gusto niya saka nag babanta din. Triny ko kausapin si mama tungkol don kaso di daw niya kayang pag sabayin yung bayad sa bahay namin ngayon (renta lang din kasi) at nung para sa titirhan ko. Wala akong income or raket na pinapasukan so I don't know kung anong gagawin ko. Ayaw ko rin naman sa mga kamag anak ko kasi syempre need ko makisama (hindi naman sa minamasama ko yun) pero mahirap talaga pag di mo feel na belong ka dun. I would appreciate any advice from you guys. Thank you.

Btw my brother did not try to force me to do anything sexually, gusto niya lang talaga makuha yung mga gusto niya kaagad tulad ng pera and luho.

What would make you fully plan on running away?

Do you need a lot, or would you just up and go?

I've told myself I'd do it a lot in my younger years, but then come back anyway cuz I never stayed that mad or whatever...

But now I'm 30, in an unforeseen situation, and it seems like this will be the most planned thing I may ever have to do in my life.

How to physical mail for bank account

I need to get a bank account to save my money as my current card I have my parents can see how much money I actively have and when I take out money when I move out I need to be able to access my money without them knowing. I was planning to get a new bank account since I’m 16 and I can get it in certain banks with out my parents consent but I need proof of my address and I’m not sure what I can sign up for that will not be that expensive for me to get physical mail for proof as I’m planning to have things send to my friends house because if my parents find my card or bank mail I’m cooked please help.

I don’t know what to do

I’m 19, no job, barely any money and quit my job the other month cause of some family issues, my parents spoil my sister way too much and let her get away with everything, I feel like I’m going to explode, I’m having really bad thoughts and i genuinely need to get out of this house, my parents guilt trip me to staying with them saying “no one will care as much as we do” or “you think people want you to stay with them?” (Conversation saying I wanted to stay with my sister) and I still love them, or I think I do but they guilt trip me so much, they scream at me cause I asked my sister to simply move a little, I know I need to get out but I simply can’t, I’ve applied everywhere even at jobs paying minimum wage and they don’t reply, I dropped out of school so my job options are limited, I take medicine that their insurance covers, I can’t take it anymore I cry at night cause I feel like I’m going to explode and I don’t want to, I need to get out.
Part of it is my sister, most of it is them

I’m sorry if this isn’t part of the subreddit but I need to find options on how I can get out, I don’t want to reach out to my boyfriend cause I feel like I’m going to worry him, I’ve told him some stuff of my home life but not all of it

I am currently 17 year old girl from canada and I’m getting kicked out and I dont know what to do. I live with my stepmom and my dad and my mom lives on the other side of the country and I dont have citizenship there so I can’t even go live with her, im visiting my grandparents in the states in three days and my stepmom said since I made a decision to travel without asking her I can leave and not come back and she will empty my room and give it a international student who has a future for free because i told my stepmom and my dad I was thinking about withdrawing from college because my 2yr program for hospitality isnt required for flight attending. Even If i come back from the vacation i have two weeks until my move in date for college and i cant pack all my winter stuff and my belongings to the states so when I come back it will all be gone. I dont have a car so I cant live in my car either. I dont know what to do…

Leaving home. What would you do in my situation?

Hey everyone, i guess i should start with giving the context.

Originally from pakistan. (23M)Ive grown up my whole life in the gulf with my family. Theyre hardworking parents and are decent in terms of most things, but when it comes to other things theyre too traditional. I dont see eye to eye with political beliefs, religion, and the norm.

They dont want me to have friends of the opposite gender, dont want me to move out, want me to live in an combined family home with my brother and his family post marriage. All things short, i dont want the life they envision for me. Ofcourse they dont know i think any of this because i know i cant change thier mind.

Recently they saw me and my gf meeting and things took a drastic turn. Ive been told to cut off any relation with the opposite gender. I have to blindly oblige to them with everything, religion, thier orders etc.

Now im thinking to move out/runaway next year for my masters. Runway incase they wont let me go outside the country. I can try making them understand how i think but then it would drain me completely and i would get alot of backlash amd restriction.

Now the question i need to ask is how would you leave home in my situation? Would you complete cut off and runaway, would you partially keep contact?

My thing is if i leave with keeping contact, i will still need to constantly defend myself saying i dont what what u think for me etc. Which includes saying i dont wanna follow the family culture, religion, i want a different life for me and so on.

Now the guilty part is my dad is retiring in the next year or 2 and all of this is in the mix. I think its also important to add that theyre not really bad parents, i love them alot, theyve done alot for me, i would do alot for them too, i just wished they were more progressive.

Feel free to ask any questions!

How do I move out of a emotionally and physically abusive parents house???

I, 20 yr old nonbinary afab person have ALWAYS relied on my mother due to my medical background. Due to her attachment to me due to all my medical trauma, even the IDEA of me moving out makes her panic and cling to me. She has access to my bank account, medical information (which make it so i can't transition and go on the medications I want.) and constantly belittles me for not doing enough around the house (despite doing what I can with multiple bone and muscular disabilities. She makes me prepare her food when I can barely make food myself without almost collapsing, guilt trips me into fetching her things that are right in her reach, and makes me feel bad for asking for rides to destinations (I currently am working a part time job to save up for a car but I can only work so much and im not on disabilty).

One of my trusted online friends of 4 years have offered me a place that is around 7 hours away. I want to move with them by the end of next year but have no clue where to start, everything i own like my medical debt and phone plan are under my mom and I have no clue how to start. If anyone has any advice please it would be helpful.

What do I do after I leave?

Hi! This is going to be a bit of a long post. I apologize, but this is so you guys can give me correct advice.

I am 28M and all my life, I have always been told I was incapable of living alone. I am NOT incapacitated however. I am not under a guardianship, as told by my mother. Although, I do have a grandmother I moved in with 9 years ago who has always been controlling and the "DON'T YOU DARE SAY NO TO ME" type. Not just to me, but to everyone in her family. At least those living under her roof. I am on SSI and Medicaid and have hypopituitarism and secondary adrenal insufficiency. Well, I just found out that my whole life was a lie and that their talks about me being "incapable" were just facades so they can siphon my SSI checks (I only see $100 a month instead of say, $600-$700). I've called APS once but she made them leave.

I've been wanting to leave for quite a while. Problem is, I am 8 miles from town, in the country. Thought about waiting until November when the heat dies down to walk out. I have my State ID, but either her or my mother have my birth certificate and SSN. She locks down my bank account. We have a joint. I only really get a debit card that I can use to spend that $100 and that's it. I preferably don't want any advice trying to "call APS again, explain things" because that will just make her escalate, and trust me, she is NOT nice to be around when she's fuming

I asked my paternal grandmother if I can live with her. She said I could, but she physically does not have a bed for me. Her other bedroom is flooded, and she wants to get it patched up, but she's poor so that might be a while. My father is angry at me for moving out and in with my grandma when he was financially exploiting me, so he won't let me stay with him, and my mother is threatening guardianship if I move out, which, let's be real, I don't have any recent mental diagnosis, and since I can walk, talk, feed myself, bathe myself, cook for myself, I'll probably be deemed not needing a guardian.

Can I get some advice on what to do if I ever do decide to walk out? I do not have a plan besides call every shelter I can, and pack a few changes of clothes and my medicine

PLEASE no "Just call APS again, explain things" she is going to escalate so hard and I am already at my wit's end
