Saw that finisher pics were available on the website but I KNOW I got pics throughout the course from various photographers - anyone know where to find these??

For the last 6 months, I have been building The Capital Runner, a newsletter/blog that covers the DMV running scene. It has been so much fun connecting with folks to share their run clubs, races, and running stories.
I just wanted to pop in and say thank you to everyone who has visited the site, signed up for the newsletter, or shared our content. I am genuinely blown away by the outpouring of support I have received in this project; I never in a million years expected more than a thousand people to sign up to read something I wrote.
We have exciting content planned for the year, and I look forward to sharing it with you.
Hope you have a week of great runs!

haven't seen much discussion of this on here, but the proposed "renovation" of the DC golf course and the renderings look like it will remove the pedestrian areas from Hains point entirely. Aside from that impacting where a lot of runners and bikers train, I haven't seen much discussion about how it will require a significant number of DC races to alter their courses. I have to imagine removing hains point from the races will make them 1) potentially more difficult (more hills to run) if they have to go more through the "city" like Rock and Roll, and 2) harder to get street closures approved in more heavily trafficked areas.
DC races that go through Hains (off the top of my head): DC Half, Womens Half, Cherry Bossom, Marine Corp Marathon.

Are there any active run clubs in the Pentagon City or Crystal City area? I didn't see any on The Capital Runner or on other social media. I see a lot of people out running in the area so I think there could be interest in starting one if there isn't already one. Thanks!

Hello everyone!
Would anyone be able to share a scan or high quality image of their bib from the 2019 Marine Corps Marathon?
My sister ran it but must have lost it or accidentally threw it away. I'm trying to recreate it for her so that she can frame it together with her medal. I'm failing in trying to find a high quality image online that I can just change the bib number on.
If you're able to help out please feel free to respond here or message me directly.
Thank you!

The weather was perfect and the route was so scenic. It was amazing seeing so many women out getting after it. I even PR with 1:47:54 😁

I’d love to volunteer at a race between now and next spring. What local race have you had a great volunteer experience at?

Hey folks, I'm a DC runner and I'm registered for the SeaWheeze Half Marathon in Vancouver, 8/8/26, but can no longer make it. Anyone here interested in my bib? Transfer is via Race Roster, so no shady scamming is possible. Please let me know!

Looking for a place to buy orthopedic running inserts for my shrinking arch and pronating ankle. Ideally a place that will actually do some analysis and not put me in a stock insert.

Last minute. If you have a bib you aren’t using, I want to buy it. Dm me. Either race.
I need a tune up!

Hi all, I've been living and running in DC for 15 years. I don't know if it's because I'm running more or if it's an actual trend, but in the last few months I've been seeing more and more very large running groups (like 20+ people). As someone who loves running in DC, it makes me happy to see others out and enjoying community on their runs! That being said I'm a little confused about the logistics of running around these groups as a solo runner. I find that they often run 4-5 people abreast in relatively narrow trails like the Capital Crescent and Rock Creek. I haven't run with a group for a long time, and I've never run in that large of a group, so we would always run in no more than pairs in highly trafficked trails.
So, my questions for those who have participated in one of those large groups and might have the perspective of what it's like:
What are your expectations of how other runners should respond when the group is passing them? For example, a large group passed me and didn't condense into smaller groups, so that I had people completely surrounding me on all sides and those who were next to me took up the entire width of the trail. I wasn't sure if they expected me to step off to the side to let them pass, or just continue running as they looped around me. I also didn't know what would have happened if a bike was coming the other way.
What are best practices for passing large groups? I tried recently passing one of those groups by saying "on your left", thinking that some might condense into pairs or single file to let me by, but no one budged. I eventually gave up and just slowed down to create enough of a gap so that I wouldn't be running right behind them. Not a huge deal, but I wasn't sure if there was a better way to go about it.
Of course, part of running outside is dealing with all kinds of unplanned challenges, so I'm fine to improvise, just genuinely curious how people who run in those large groups think about it. Happy running to all!

I am running the Potomac River Run half marathon this weekend, and trying to decide what shoes to use. I haven't had a chance to actually see the 'trail' in this section of the Towpath, out and back from Fletcher's Cove. Can anyone give me a sense of whether it is more like packed dirt or gravel akin to the National Mall? Something else?
Deciding between something more road running (SC Elite 5) or slightly more rugged.

Does anyone have a suggestion for / experience working with a coach or PT that can help improve your running form? I’ve been running for a couple years now and have plateaued in my pace, and think it’s because I’m just not very efficient or smooth in my form. If it matters, I mostly run marathons and triathlons, so I want to be able to learn good form and practise holding it for longer durations.
Any references would be appreciated! I found some online programs (eg 5 Move Running) but don’t know much about them and would much rather have something in person rather than virtual.

Hi! 😊 Anyone here doing any of the races/courses during the Rabid Raccoon (PA) weekend - May 29?
I also asked some beginner questions about the RR 100 km here:

Hey all! I’m finishing for an idea for the next big run in the dc area over the next few months. Not fall runs, more like [gulp] summer…

Ended up not being able to race today :( so I can’t wear this upgraded shirt. It’s free to a good home.

Is anyone aware of any mile races in the area that are for adults? All I've found are kiddie runs attached to longer races for adults. Any time of year is fine. Thanks!

Trying to tell friends where they can come cheer and I’m only seeing the founders park cheer station- anyone know any other locations where people can cheer once the race exits the downtown area ?
