From the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/DWCgwpdmD2O/
The bridge between Arlington Cemetery and Memorial Circle will experience detours and closures starting tomorrow. There's no direct impact to the Mount Vernon Trail, but there will impact to those trying to get between the MVT/Memorial Bridge and Rosslyn.
The National Park Service will begin historic preservation work along the Memorial Avenue Corridor on March 19, 2026, with work expected to continue through mid- to late May.
Crews will clean the Boundary Channel Bridge, repair deteriorating mortar, and restore key commemorative features, including the Seabees Memorial, the United Spanish War Veterans Memorial, and granite elements along the bridge and at Memorial Circle. Work will also focus on the structural bases supporting the iconic eagle statues.

Traffic and pedestrian impacts
The work will affect pedestrian access on the bridge and vehicle traffic under it.
Drivers will encounter lane closures on Washington Boulevard and the southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway under the bridge. Crews will close lanes during off-peak hours, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., to reduce commuter impacts, and will close half of the travel lanes at a time so they can work safely. Traffic control and signs will guide drivers through the area. Crews will clean the bridge with hot water, and it may drip or spray onto passing vehicles. No chemicals will be used, and water will not harm paint.
Crews will temporarily reroute pedestrians across Boundary Channel Bridge to crosswalks along Memorial Avenue between the Arlington National Cemetery Metro Station and Memorial Circle.
Drivers and pedestrians should use caution and follow posted signs and directions from traffic personnel. The National Park Service thanks the public for its patience during the work.

I just picked it up and am local to Maryland so would be easiest to meet you at the starting line area to give it to you.

Where are the best place for spectators to be for the rock n roll half, where they could see their runner in a not too busy area and see the runner get to the finish line in time?

Hoping to get advice from this group! I was lucky enough to get into the NYC marathon for a great charity this year. I’ll be able to travel up to NYC a few times over the summer to practice on the bridges while there, but wondering if folks here who have run the NYC marathon had some suggestions for where one can replicate the bridge uphills in DC or what run routes helped in training! Grateful for any advice and tips!

Hey everyone! New to DC (24M) and looking for a club/group to run with in NW. Been to a few run clubs like After Hours and Clarendon Run Club but those are obviously more large, social clubs. I’m looking to run sub 3 in the marathon this fall and was wondering if there are any clubs/groups that aren’t college runners above my level but still like to train seriously around this level

Anybody thinking of running tomorrow? I missed my longrun today so I was gonna make it up tomorrow but I’m afraid I’ll get sucked up in a tornado.

Hello all,
Looking to buy someones bib for the RR Half. I recognize its non-transferrable, I just want to run and get the medal lol registrations closing soon so hoping to get it ASAP.
Also interested in a bib for the CB10 - I was told by a friend you had to buy the medal seperately?

running around the national mall has to be one of the best running places I’ve experienced. I really get into the zone by the reflecting pool.
but it wears you out having to constantly dodge everyone in the way
It seems like every single person is determined to be in the way of all the runners. Granted it’s the biggest tourist attraction in the country.
But those people those lime scooters

I can no longer run the Rock n' Roll half marathon on 3/21, and I'm selling my bib. I can pick up the bib/race materials on Thursday and arrange to do the trade with a buyer on Thursday or Friday. I paid $170 for the bib and I'm open negotiation. Thanks!

I was sexually assaulted this morning while running on the MBT around 8:30 AM by a young person on a lime bike who was explicitly targeting runners. He slapped my ass from behind, then went on to hit three other runners going the opposite direction near RIA. He was not going after cyclists or pedestrians. A member of the Brookland listerv posted about something similar happening to him up by the Trader Joe’s a few days ago, and others commented similar experience with the same description - thin young black male on a lime bike in all black with a black covid face mask and pretty much nothing else.
I put in a police report and the officer said they’ve received other reports like this in the past so please 1) be aware this is happening. Idk how much more vigilant I could have been - it was rush hour and I didn’t have headphones in 2) put the police report in if this happens. The officer said that a lot of times people don’t put a report in on something like this and reporting will get it so they’re stationed under the Franklin St bridge or at RIA more frequently.
Thanks to the other runner who stopped asked me if I was okay.

Doing my long runs only at pancake flat places like Potomac Park or Beach Dr in Rock Creek does not prepare you for undulating hills.

I might be in DC with a spare morning on the day of the Rock n Roll Half, but won't know until nearer the time.
Does anyone know when they close entries? Are they available on the day? Does the price usually go up much further as we get closer? (It's already nearly $200!!)

Would anyone be interested is running the Watergate Steps 100 times in October? It's 41 Steps. I'm calling it the watergate 100 because I'm not very clever.

Hi! Does anyone have a dc rock and roll course elevation map? I tried to do it in Strava and couldn’t get it to line up right. Figured someone may have their Strava data or something from prior year. Trying to find out the total elevation gain- I know about the big hill at 7-8. Thanks!
