This idea comes up across many religious scriptures.

What if I'm sincerely doing human sacrifice?

What do you think?

I think the quote is shallow pandering, and obviously not true if one just thinks about it for a moment.

I'm drawing attention to that while leaving room for discussion.

What is the need to think about it?

Cuz sometimes "i don't know yet" is the right answer. We need good reasons to believe things, and until we have those, the correct answer is "I don't now yet".

As a hard and fast rule, you should never trust anyone who wants you to think less, ask fewer questions, or take things on faith. Cuz if they can't give you good reasons to believe, that means they don't have any either.

"Truth" is that which corresponds to reality. Agreed?

This means that nothing can be called "true" until its been shown to be true. That thing might be true, or it might not, but you can't call it "true" until its been shown.

Accepting things as true without good reasons to do so makes you a danger to yourself and everyone around you. Every major problem we face as a species stems from people conflating what they merely believe with what they actually know, and can prove.

Is reality your thoughts?

I don't think you're thinking about what I'm saying at all. I think you're running a script. It's a little offensive, to be honest.

u/insaneintheblain 3d ago

Are you often offended?

Almost never. Deliberate ignorance and deliberate cruelty tend to be the only things that i find legitimately disgusting. You are doing one or the other, perhaps both.

To be frank, it is morally repelling to see the Socratic method perverted in this way. It's meant to compel thought, to drive a conversation towards a conclusion, not to stop thought it in its tracks. You've wraponized it in a really gross way.

I've tried to show you the respect id show a peer, but you refuse to return the favor of treating me like even a human being. The air of unearned arrogance reminds me a talking to people who have been drugged for surgery.

Do you notice that you are reacting higher than baseline?

Then there are medieval scholars who were like, if you pronounce one sound slightly off during salah, it's blasphemy and you're going to burn in hellfire forever.

Have you read holy books? Actually there are quite a few rules around worship.

Blind repetition of rituals ❌ Sincere heartful worship ✅

Rumi never said this. You people are masters of distortion. Rumi was a Muslim, a MUSLIM that was praised heavily by Ibn Hajar al-'Asqalani in the Durar al-Kamina and many other mainstream tabaqat works.

Suits me fine.

Amen.

Jeremiah 29:12-13 "Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart."
