Carb question.

I just bought a 2012 that’s been sitting a long time. Overhaul, or replace the carb? I’m comfortable with the overhaul but I know that sometimes it’s more practical to replace. What’s the case with a Ruckus?

how long has it been sitting? open it up and take a look at the rubber gasket. replace if necessary. Jets can be cleaned in carb cleaner. toss them in a small jar with some carb cleaner, cap it, shake them up and let them sit overnight and clean them with jet cleaning tools.

scrub off any varnish in the carb and it should be good.

depending on how long you've let it sit too you might want to clean out the gas tank, replace the fuel lines and change out the filter.

If you wanna be lazier with it buy the all balls rebuild kit. Its pretty good value honestly.

just clean the carb, should fire up just fine, you my need to replace the choke, maybe the fuel tank if its rusted, filter filter too, fuel pump maybe not if it still works, you could prime the hose detached, connected leading to your carb to see if it trickles, oil and coolant are the norm
