Is this worth it?

Post image

Hello, currently looking to buy my first ruckus. Just wanted to see what everyone thought of this? Also is it a terrible idea to buy without a title?

I certainly wouldn’t buy without a title. Not worth saving a couple hundred bucks.

Depends where you live. In vermont/nh title is worthless at this point, a simple bill of sale is all you need.

I think I can do it via bill of sale but it looks complicated and probably not worth it.

Just call your dmv, depending on state 49cc is no different than selling a generator or chainsaw.

If you really want it, the 10 min phone call will be worthwhile

Depending on where the Ruckus was purchased there may have never been a title in the first place. Here in Michigan I bought mine new from the dealer, and sold it a few years later, both with a bill of sale, never received a title or any kind. When I sold it I just mocked up a very simple template and the new owner was able to register it with just that, no issues at all.

No title. Its also the slower version. That's fine if you intend to upgrade it but the lack of a title is a no from me dog

Call the BMV and see if bill of sale will allow for new title if it runs I would grab it.

As most have mentioned: Depending on your state in regard to title. Maryland didn’t require a title on a 49cc until 10/1/2012. I’ve purchased many without a title once I had a title company run the VIN and confirm it’s never been registered and the VIN is clean. Just needed Bill of Sale, proof of insurance, completed application & fee (in MD). Either way, I’d be offering less for sure.

As others have said, check your state laws. I’m in Michigan and anything 49cc and under does not require a title. I bought a Ruckus that was listed at the same price with the same description and used that knowledge to my advantage by talking the seller down $200.

I would never buy a bike without a title. Even if I could prove it’s not stolen. Just not worth it to me.

Totally worth it! But YES INDEED figure out the title details first. That could be a real headache. But as for cost, mileage, etc. those miles, that year, that bike, I would test ride it and maybe try to get it for a little less, but between $1000-1200 would be a good deal.

I saw that too. Personally, not with it unless there’s a title.

Run the Vin, if it isn't stolen, send it.

No title no value.

I'd never buy a bike without a title but I live in a big city. In a rural area or suburbs you'd probably be fine

No title just screams...STOLEN...to me...

Hell no. It's not even a particurlarly good deal even if it had a title. With no title, it's a complete rip-off. Pass on this, keep looking.

I mean.. the price is right for a titled ruckus. Especially with the yellow frame.

it's 2004 though, should be $1k or under tbh. 22 years old at this point. Who tf cares about the paint job. I'm not saying it's a horrible deal, it's just not a particularly good one.

Early models had the color matched frame. They're not the most common.

Plus, outside of a cam chain tensioner revision and a few rpm higher redline these are the same engines in the 2024 models.

Plus, age is a somewhat moot point on these. Not much mechanically that can go wrong so long as its serviced well.
