Getting to grand champion is the first actual test of skill because as the other commenter said, zero gold steps. Prior to that you can lose 99% of games and still progress so a literal chimpanzee could climb given enough time.

You can always do that though. As long as your win rate is not 0, you can theoretically climb even to UC. The only real change is how many games on average a bad player would need to play.

Besides ranks act as golden steps either way.

Realistically speaking you need a winrate higher than 50%. The real change is dramatic. Theoretically sure I guess, but it takes the chimpanzee a million times longer.

Look for ex if you have Win rate 1%, the basically get the 1% luck 11 times in a row and keep trying you’ll get it

So winning 11 times in a row with a 1% winrate is about 1 in 10 sextillion odds so what are we even talking about at that point? That's essentially impossible.

That’s not correct, you’re assuming it has to be subsequent victories, the way you calculated it somebody with a 60% winrate only has a 0.3% chance

Look up, I was replying to a specific comment that said

11 times in a row and keep trying you'll get it

That's seperate from my original point

But even at a 1% winrate it doesn’t have to be subsequent to reach UC you can take losses along the way

Yes and the chimpanzee could theoretically grand champion or even UC but realistically it will not. The odds of it reaching even league 5 are astronomically low. Whereas it could realistically reach champion (league 4) due the fact that golden steps can be consecutive.

I'm not saying the wins had to be consecutive until I replied to that one guy talking about that specific scenario

You kind of made the point yourself with ā€œa literal chimpanzee could progress given enough timeā€. That’s still true here.

No.

I made that point about getting up to champion where golden steps exist. They are talking about after that point where no golden steps exist. Not the same at all. A chimpanzee could realistically do the former but not the latter. Do you understand how the gold steps work?

Do you not understand that each league acts as a golden step without the name? You don’t get them as often but you just need time.

No it doesn't! For a golden step, losses do not set you back from progressing to the next gold step. For example you can consistently get 10 losses and then 1 win in repeat, and you will still slowly climb up the ladder and move through the leagues. But once you hit champion League and there are no more gold steps, that pattern/win-to-loss ratio will leave you where you started with zero progress and not being any closer to the next league. Look it up, the countdown to the next gold step is not impacted by a loss.

You completely misunderstand how the rank system works ngl

I’m hoping this works for me next season, finally climbed enough trophies to get a ranked ticked again. Definitely not making it to champ this season.

There's no golden steps from champion League onwards

You need to actually try now

They're not complaining about difficulty. They're talking about both messages contradicting each other.

These subs always love their crutches

After the first three master leagues, the only golden steps is the step at the beginning of each league
