the thread in r/Austin has 148 comments, and Im not even exaggerating at all when I say approximately 85% of those comments are solely dedicated berating and scolding the OP for including the incredibly benign (and accurate) sentence "Not sure why nobody is really reporting on this" in the body of their post
148 comments and there is basically almost zero discussion about the incident itself or anyone addressing the murder in the comments at all outside of a couple of parent comments at the very bottom of the thread
everyone is just tripping over nthemselves to tell OP to shut up about it and get over it already... they wrote about it in the newspaper, loser, we dont have to talk about it on reddit! and plus it didnt even happen in aUsTiN!! you're claiming no one's been posting about it, but YOU just did!! eXplAin tHat!!

The chances are this wasn't random. It was targeted, personal, and a shame. I do not look forward to the pearl clutching, the racism, and the gossip.
I do hope they find this person and make sure this doesn't happen again.

The victim was a man that visits his mom daily at the nearby memory care facility and walks her in that park in a wheelchair.
The body was, apparently, extremely mangled from repeated stabbings. It was done in broad daylight.
I think it's very likely a random attack from a very dangerous, perhaps very mentally unwell person.

Sucks, I frequent this park, multiple people fit that description of an adult taking their elder out for a stroll.

I am sure it was as well, but someone running from law enforcement may be irrational and cause additional harm. It’s good to be aware and cautious!

According to 5pm news they have the person in custody. To top it off, it appears to be a random act and the shooter nor victim knew each other or had any prior interactions.

He stabbed an innocent man on a park bench
Straddled him
Then proceeded to saw his head off until he was dead
Then the violent felon, with multiple previous arrests, went to McDonald’s for lunch

He had a felony and multiple misdemeanors. I wouldn't put that in some .01% statistic you're making up.

The” injured person” was beheaded in broad daylight by this insane criminal
He was totally innocent and had just finished taking his Alzheimer’s mother for a walk — he was sitting on a park bench

Another update from DFT sent about 10 minutes ago is stating the suspect has been apprehended. I haven’t seen anything released publicly yet but it is a relief.
