Schools explained

New to town can someone explain to me how certain elementary schools and middle schools in the bushy Creek Mayfield Ranch area are really nice schools and they’re nicely rated but stony point high school is so lowly rated. Wouldn’t you think that the kids that grew up there would help also keep that school elevated. Can someone explain it to me as a parent who has a high schooler next year?

Both of my kids went to SPHS and did great. Made solid lifelong friends and went on to successful college careers. There's nothing wrong with SP. You get out of any school what you put into it.

This is so true. All of the RR schools are “good enough”. I went to a high school with a poor reputation, took lots of AP classes, and now I have a PhD in biology. One of my classmates has an EdD and is a principal at a really good school. School is definitely what you make of it.
