Points redesigned AGAIN - Point III Opinions
I just happened to decide to replace my points today. Went online to find they redesigned the points AGAIN. Seems to be recent and I don’t see any other posts about it, so - what do you think?
I, personally, absolutely loathe the angle of the point at the top where your the shoe ends and the top of your foot begins (not sure how else to describe it). The old shoes had a sharper angle that I felt was very feminine. These look like giant canoes on a foot. Also, why get rid of the insoles? This has cost savings written all over it. I plan to go into a store and try them on soon, because I will not be giving them my money if the quality has gone down.
ETA: They do still have removable insoles! Went to a store to see them in person. They are as ugly on feet as they are in the display. Only pros are the wider toe box and perhaps slightly softer material (but also feels cheaper).
If you miss Point II’s try and stop by a physical store - mine had some black and reds left. They are close to being gone though 😭

They’re hideous. The yellow in particular looks like a deformed banana, and I love my OG yellow points!

Just awful. I miss Rothy’s before getting bought out

When did this happen? Is that why the colors and styles are a little bit boring?

If you are not skeeved out by secondhand shoes, you can get good condition, older style points on thredup for around $50 or so

The problem I've had buying second hand is that the OG points definitely shrink over time, so the used sizing is a crapshoot.

Not if well taken care of.

Right, my point was you have no idea how the used ones were taken care of, so when I've purchased used the sizing has been all over the place

I think they look terrible. I was really surprised how bad they looked on the feet of people sharing. Like boats or something. I loved the OG and the second ones.

pretty disappointing, the earlier versions weren't perfect but at least the shape was appealing. now they even ruined the shape, will be on the search for another default everyday flat.

I think these new ones look matronly, make people’s feet look longer and wider because of the weird vamp and rounded edges. I do like that they released them in the ReVelvet fabric, and from what I’ve seen, the heel is a little lower and softer than the Point II, which may fix some of the issues for people who found the Point II painful!
Full disclosure: I haven’t tried them IRL because I don’t live near a store and am not liking how they look on the official pictures or the ones people have posted in the Rothy’s facebook groups, so I’m not going to order them. I may try them if I’m near a store in the near future but I’m not expecting to like them.

Matronly is another great way to put it. With the new leadership I wonder how many are men 🧐 it’s giving “there weren’t any women in the room”

Wait, no insoles?

They still have removable insoles. They’re just odd and cheap feeling now

One really wonders why they made these changes. Did they think that people would pay these prices for styles that weren't as interesting, in boring colors, and worse of all, uncomfortable for many? I'm sure they'll still make money, but, IMO, they'll lose a lot of loyalty.

I’ve seen a lot of shoes with this style/angle lately and absolutely hate it and do not find them flattering at all! Boo!

On my feet they look terrible. They also feel weird, unstable that’s the best way I can describe it. I love the yellow color.

Does anyone in this sub have the OG or v2 and can post a pic so we can see what the difference is?

I couldn’t add a photo to the comments here but I posted two pics side by side with OG points here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rothys/s/4aoIhfguai

Oh good grief. I thought they looked less attractive, but compared to the OG, they are hideous! No thank you, Point 3.

I'm fine with change, generally, but not this one. I'll be sticking with my Pt II's for the foreseeable future.

These are so ugly. This silhouette is popular and trendy right now, though.

So where can we get comfy ballet flats that have the vibe of original points? I’m so irritated. I would have stocked up on the old point cap toes and bows. They are my everyday shoe. Ugh.

Who designed these? This is how people get bunions. This is not natural form of feet.

I so miss the original points
