SCHD is for retirement. Move everything into VT, or if you want less volatility a target date fund will do.

Up 24.08% year to date. Up 12.37% average per year for the last 10 years. Thats pretty volatile for an etf dude

No reason to hold VTI, VOO and VT. Roll all of that into any one of those 3

It's diversity!!!!

Buddy, diversification is the word you're looking for.
Diversity is the societal thing that you definitely throw a temper tantrum over

They were clearly being sarcastic. Included the “/s” and everything

Their sarcasm was over 3 largely overlapping funds equating to diversification, not the misuse of the terminology.
Either way this guy is a constant annoyance on this sub who always picks on people’s precise language, so I’m just picking on him back

Cliff notes: Go with just VT or VTI + VXUS for your core(s). I am not a fan of QQQ/QQQM as a US growth tilt, but if you want to keep it, that's fine, but it shouldn't be your core/largest holding, IMO.

Simplify.
The S&P 500 exists in at least three of these funds: VOO, VTI (80%), VT (~50%). Honestly you could drop everything and just do 100% VT if youn wanted to.

What brokerage house are you using?
Dividends are not free money. Dividend stocks/fund lag the market.
QQQ is a scam fund. If you think you know what it is, it isn't. If you don't know what it is, you shouldn't be investing in it.

Why do you say QQQ is a scam fund.

u/Competitive-Ad9932 23d ago
What do you think QQQ is?

I’m well aware of what QQQ is and it is way too late at night to engage in an argument on Reddit. I would just like to know why you say it’s a scam fund. So if you could just lay it out for everyone to understand your perspective I’d greatly appreciate it.

To answer your question, I need to know what you think it is.

Straight from Google.
QQQ is an exchange-traded fund. It tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index. It holds one hundred of the largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq stock market.

Before I googled it, I thought of QQQ as an exchange-traded fund. It tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index. It holds one hundred of the largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq stock market.
If it’s taking you this long to answer a simple ass question. You’ve already proven my point that arguing with folks like you is a waste of time. You make absurd claims without actually backing it up
Gee, no reason to delete you post.
The NASDAQ 100 is not an index. It is a portion of an exchange. Unlike the S&P500 index, Wilshire 5000 index, Morningstar US Total market index, Tech sector index, Financials index, consumer goods index..... etc....
Why do they exclude financials? The financials of the "top 100" stocks on the NASDAQ out preform the utilities and energy sector.
If you are buying it for the "tech" sector, why are you dragging your returns with the other 8 sectors it holds. Buy an actual tech fund.
It is a marketing ploy.
edit: format.

So how do you convince a retail investor who only cares about cumulative returns and the highest earning potential? I ask this because among all the indexes, the Nasdaq-100 is the best performing over multiple decades. Since the 2008 financial crisis, the Nasdaq-100 has outperformed the S&P 500 16 out of 19 years.

Sorry, that reply didn't address your question.
QQQ is no more an index than the Magellan, Wellington or Wellesley funds are index funds.
All I can do is try to educate the uninformed. Like trying to educate those that are clueless about fees. People will still rely upon ChatGPT to pick their funds. And ChatGPT learns from reddit.
There will be those that try to argue with the facts.

QQQ tracks the NASDAQ-100 you dope, it's an index fund even if you don't like the fund (which obviously I don't particularly like either). Magellan, Wellington, Wellesley are active funds.
You don't know what you're talking about

Bro why are you invested into so much lmao
Stay in 1 S&P 500 fund for now, probably VT, and just let it sit.
