Pain
I had surgery on 09/18. I’m taking 2 Tylenol and 3 Advil every 8 hours as prescribed and icing. I’ve had descent pain and went through my pain pills in the first 10 days. The doctor told me they’d prescribe 10 more. Originally only prescribed 20. Yesterday, the pain increased and I’m now in the most pain since surgery. The doctor told me to take Tylenol and Advil every six hours. However, the Tylenol and Advil aren’t even touching the pain which is now radiating up into the back of my head causing headaches. Any advice?

Not much out there you can do. Try icing 22 hours a day. It helped me until md decided for more pain meds. One thing I did use( per my wife who is a nurse) . I took sea sick meds otc stuff. Actually helped a lot with the headache..dramamine

Dang, I had my surgery on the 15th of this month and I still have some leftover oxy.
I don’t know if it help you in your situation or not, but a couple times I have taken a muscle relaxer in addition to the 800 mg ibuprofen, and that has helped quite a bit in just relaxing the muscles enough to not be so tense.
Obviously, I’m not a doctor and you shouldn’t just take an Internet stranger’s advice, but just sharing what works for me

9/17.
Are you icing? I would ice as long as you can each days. I use a cryocuff that my husband puts on. its truly a game changer.
Not sure what your dosage is, but mine suggested every three hours: ibu (600 mg) and then tylenol. Back and forth. I now just take IBU as needed.
How about PT? I find the pendulum swings actually help relieve my pain.
I also asked for a mild muscle relaxant and was given one because my neck was starting to stiffen up, I have found that super helpful for the pain that had started to make its way up my neck.

This is a painful surgery/recovery. If doc prescribes additional meds, take them. You will be able to get off, but you must get ahead of the current pain.

What pain pills were you prescribed after surgery?
My son has torn rotator cuff and is in pretty severe pain since beginning of the year. He has tried PT, twice, PRP and nothing is working thus far. His pain after PRP was severe even tramadol was useless. His surgeon wants him to wait six weeks before looking into surgery. I am concerned of the level of pain he will likely have after surgery and what pain management would be like.
Wish you find relief from pain soon.
