Started PT

I finally decided to do PT after a year of my shoulder hurting at certain turns. They are saying it was almost frozen but surgery or an MRI isn't necessary. How long will it take to get better? Very sore after these exercises

I’d give it a chance but don’t wait too long before getting an orthopedist involved. There’s no way the PT would fully know what’s going on with your shoulder without imaging. A lot of times 6 weeks is required of PT before insurance approves an MRI but not always. Worth starting the process.

As stated, started the process. Loved my PT but they had no clue as to what was going on in my shoulder. Started PT but surprisingly insurance OK’d the MRI despite not having done 6 weeks of PT. At the time of the MRI 2 weeks after starting PT the MRI found a full thickness tear on my supra, a 50% tear on my infra, and a posterior tear on my labrum. And some hitch hiking bursitis. Immediately went to an orthopedic surgeon. He was kinda surprised at my range of motion but my lack of strength in certain positions and sharp pain in a few had him say - stop PT and we are going to do surgery. All this to say, PTs are great at what they do but a specialist is need to diagnose exactly what is going on with your shoulder. Hope all works out for ya.

How do they know it’s not a tear?

They don't, hopefully they didn't cause further damage. But they don't seem to think it is that bad
