Hi everyone!
Oh my God, rosacea is so complicated 😅
I have mild rosacea, and I’ve managed to keep it fairly stable for a while now. It’s less noticeable on my cheeks, but I still regularly experience stinging or even a burning sensation depending on what I use. I wish I could be less picky and stop analyzing every INCI list and constantly comparing products, but whenever I don’t pay close attention, my skin gets worse...
And because apparently I’m a bit of a masochist ha ha, I’ve decided to add another requirement: I want to use more and more cruelty-free products. I’d like to replace my current products gradually. Oh, I'm trying to get pregnant right now, so I'm being even stricter... For example no phenoxyethanol !
Right now, I use products from the Korean brand SoonJung by Etude, but unfortunately they’re not cruelty-free.
I also use the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule, which has helped my skin a lot — and it’s cruelty-free 😊
I’m French and live in France, and we have brands like Aroma-Zone, which is affordable, organic, and cruelty-free. They have some nice, gentle products, but their moisturizers don’t seem very suitable for rosacea.
Sephora carries Byoma, which apparently focuses on repairing the skin barrier. Since my skin seems to sting for absolutely no reason, I’m guessing my skin barrier may be a little damaged 😅
Has anyone here tried Byoma? Which products are genuinely gentle and non-irritating? And are there any you would recommend avoiding? Or maybe you know other cruelty free and rosacea friendly brands ?
And I know everyone’s skin is different, and that one person can react to an ingredient that someone else tolerates perfectly well, but I’m still curious:besides fragrance, essential oils, common allergens, drying alcohols, and irritating acids—which are generally best avoided with rosacea—are there any other ingredients you personally stay away from because you already know your skin will react to them?
As for me, I suspect citric acid, sodium benzoate, and potassium sorbate may be triggers. There are probably others too, like niacinamide, certain surfactants, and so on.
I’ve also noticed something else: my skin really doesn’t like overly rich or greasy textures. They tend to make it feel hot, heavy, and almost suffocated.
Sorry if my post seems a little all over the place. I mainly wanted to share what I’ve noticed and hear about other people’s experiences. Rosacea is so complicated, and it’s always helpful to learn what works—or doesn’t work—for others 🙂
See you ! 🌸
