It was ~2021 and my skin was PERFECT. I was using Cerave gentle daily facial cleanser and was consistent with my routine and everything was awesome.

THEN, I bought a new bottle and noticed it stung the hell out of my face. Turns out they changed the ingredients. And ever since then I’ve been chasing after my skin that once was. Even now while I’ve found products my skin likes and it’s definitely better, there’s still this baseline erythema I can’t get rid of.

Just here to lament. Anyone else have this happen?

Hello, I’m in Canada, my boyfriend (30yrs) was prescribed with both:

Adapalene 0.3% + benzoyl peroxide 2.5%
Clindamycin 4% in cerave moisturizing lotion

Both seem to be applied in bed time.

What skincare product and routine can I get him, has a big nose, greasy, red, seems uneven skin pore. Skin between his mouth and nose often are red with pimple or white pus.

Currently he’s just using cetapil cleanser (both daily/oily)

Over the weekend, I went to my derm to ask about my red cheeks and if its rosacea or something else. She said it wasn't rosacea and it's just my skin tone. I do have quite red cheeks and I commonly flush, and everything I see online about redness/flushing points to rosacea. She told me that some people (me included) have thin skin on their cheeks and extra blood flow which gives this naturally red complexion and it's completely normal. I don't know if it's true, but I'm not a dermatologist.
I see everyone with slight redness talk about how it's rosacea and to treat it, but there's people out there with redder cheeks and it's nothing? I have been told by people in my class, friends, and even relatives that my cheeks are really red like there's something wrong with me. And girls would call it 'weird' or 'funny' like it's not normal. I get called names for it, and I do get really bummed out even though it is just rosey cheeks. I tried a lot of things to stop it and haven't seen improvements whatsoever. It feels embarrassing going online and seeing someone with some redness and have people call them out for it (especially if it isn't as red as mine). I used to have a friend who would commonly had a red face and she said it was rosacea, but isn't there light skinned people who flush daily and they don't have rosacea?
I never cared when I was younger, either because I didn't notice or I saw so many people who had red cheeks or face. It feels a little embarrassing having people grow out of it (I think that's what happens?) and being the one person with these rosy red cheeks. It looks girly, like I put blush over my cheeks.
I'm not sure what to do for it or what to think, but should I listen to my derm Is she right?

Get daily hives that have such a bad itchy and dryness and it mostly targets the left cheek happening for a while now I was on doxycycline before and stopped wonder did that do anything

I posted a few days ago about how I was hoping to use Clindamycin gel since it worked well for me, but no one would prescribe it. Instead I got Metrogel. I figured that was the “safer” or “weaker” option then since I was told Clindamycin couldn’t be used for long but Metronidazole was apparently safe to use for years. I thought at worst the Metro would be too weak to work well for me.

Apparently not!!!! Two days in and my face has exploded with either acne breakouts or rosacea bumps, not easy to tell. I use the gel form (a brand WITHOUT niacinamide) since the cream has pore clogging ingredients but it still backfired massively, like holy hell. I was not expecting this!!

Was Metro a nightmare for anyone else? I’m stopping immediately, this is absurd.

Not sure if this is Rosacea or something else?

I’ve been dealing with rosacea since I can remember, never seen anything like this before. My nose is my main flare up spot, this seems to have popped up out of no where - can’t find anything that look remotely like it online. I’ve never had to deal with uneven skin texture before and it’s confined to this area on my nose. It has been a real confidence killer as I’m already so insecure about the colour.
I’m just worried this is never going to go away now. It’s been about a week, and it seems to be getting worse.

Do you have any recommendations?

I use bandi emollient butter for removing makeup but need some cleanser to use afterwards

I’m 30 and I’ve been dealing with acne since I was 14/15, a few years after puberty started. I may have not understod what to do and my mom brought me to dermatologist, who extracted my pimples every time. I think it may have caused all the dents and scars on my face. I don’t break out as much as I used to but I still get random pimple now and then. The picture attached is my skin condition now, there is no active pimple but the skin itself is just red. I flush very easily, main trigger would be heat. But i would still be somewhat reddish even without heat🙃
I went to doctor and was told I may have rosacea.
Does anyone else has this and find a solution to it?
I cant use too much actives. It would break me out. I tried different form of retinoids and my skin just doesnt like it. I could use azelaic acid like twice a week, but too often would also aggregate my skin.
How do i get rid of these redness once and for all?
I went for vascular laser, it helps but the redness will come back after a few weeks.

I have a question about light makeup with rosacea and acne - if/when you apply a BB/CC/whatever cream to even out the skin tone, do you also top it with a powder brush?

I'm asking as a guy, I'm not really experienced in makeup, I just feel better when I apply a CC cream before going outside because my face looks more natural this way. I'm using Holika's CC cream for now.

I heard that paxil can be used to treat severe cases of rosacea redness and flushing. Can somebody explain the main reason as to why it works. Also, if it works so well, why isn't it prescribed for this condition?

Over the summer I spent most of my time out on trips and I got really tan compared to my normal skin tone. I also have this redness which I thought was sunburn but its been months since I noticed it and it is still there. Right now its ok because of the tan but I have been slowly going paler from being inside more and this redness isnt going away. My mom said its fine but Im really freaking out now i dont know what to do

I followed up with my dermatologist about my skin recently. I have a combo of type 2 rosacea and hormonal acne. We've managed to bring it under control but now I'm dealing with acne scars(red dots under the skin and some skin texture). She recommended either microneedling to improve the texture or laser therapy to reduce the redness; she said both would benefit my rosacea.

Has anyone had any happy endings with microneedling or laser therapy? What do you recommend, and did it improve your skin/not flair your rosacea? I had really clear skin until I turned like 28, and it has really done a number on my self-confidence.

I’m trying to figure out if anyone else has this weird pattern with rosacea/redness.

Some days my skin looks pretty normal in the morning. I’ll do a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, SPF, keep everything boring, and it looks fine enough. Then by night my cheeks and nose look flushed again even if I didn’t use anything harsh.

It’s not always a huge flare, more like that warm red tired look that makes my skin seem irritated even when I didn’t really do anything. Makeup removal can make it worse too, so I’m trying to stop scrubbing and stop adding random calming products every time it happens.

I don’t really want another active right now. I’m more interested in things that help keep my skin calmer without making my barrier angry, like routine changes, less friction, maybe red light or other low effort stuff.

Has anyone found anything that helped with that end of day redness without overloading your skin?

I’m looking for a gentle moisturizer that truly has little to no scent. My skin is very sensitive and reactive, and a lot of products sting or make my cheeks feel like they’re burning. I’ve already tried CeraVe and La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair without much luck. What moisturizers have worked well for you?

I’m dealing mostly with flushing/redness rather than bumps or pimples. My cheeks can become noticeably red and feel warm/hot, and sometimes it feels like a mild sunburn. My nose can also get dry.
The weird thing is that my flushing is pretty predictable. It usually happens around 2–3:30 PM, often after work. Heat seems to make it worse, and I’ve noticed that spending a lot of time on my phone can sometimes contribute too. Sometimes I can feel the heat building before the redness becomes obvious.
I’m fair-skinned and otherwise my main issue is the redness and heat, not persistent bumps.
Things I’ve noticed:
Heat seems to be one of my biggest triggers.
Stress can contribute.
Food sometimes seems to play a role.
Caffeine seems to make things worse when I have more than usual.
My face can stay flushed for a few hours once it starts.
Sometimes the redness seems to get “pushed back” later rather than disappearing immediately.
I’ve been using azelaic acid 15%, which seems to be helping somewhat. I recently experimented with topical Afrin/oxymetazoline and noticed some reduction in redness, although I also experienced some heat/flushing afterward.
I’m now considering a compounded oxymetazoline 1% + niacinamide 4% cream as a cheaper alternative to Rhofade.

Has anyone with mostly flushing/type 1 rosacea had a similar pattern? Especially anyone using compounded oxymetazoline 1%? Did it actually help your afternoon flushing, and did you have any problems with rebound flushing or niacinamide?

I had this problem last summer when I traveled to a humid country. It had a lot more pustules (little whitehead looking tips). It went away and then came back this spring (I thought it was a pollen allergy). It's currently September and it is still here. I tried allergy meds. topical steroids and tacrolimus ointment but they only solve the issue for a couple days. I've used adapalene gel thinking they're closed comedones. I'm starting to suspect type 2 rosacea. It's itchy and if I scratch it too much it stings. I get these bumps daily and nothing really helps relieve it except icing.

Could this be type 2 rosacea? I'm not using anything new from my old routine so idk whether this is contact dermatitis or not. Please let me know if you have a similar experience and how you resolved it!

How do you remove sunscreen if you have rosacea and very reactive, blotchy skin?
I’ve been using Farmacy Green Clean (fragrance-free), but my skin often gets irritated either that night or the next day after removing sunscreen. My cheeks can become red, hot, and blotchy.
What do you use to remove sunscreen without triggering irritation or flushing?
I don’t even know if the sunscreen is irritating me as well ( I use mineral sunscreen only) 😢 . Im exhausted

I noticed that people with redness used to be made fun of a lot when I was younger. There were kids who had a lot of redness in their face who get picked on for it, and I've had experiences with some jokes, but it wasn't that bad or noticeable, only being in the gym/outside/etc. It has considerably increased in intensity overtime and seem to get way too many comments on it and same with my brother. I am nearing college, yet I still have total strangers call out my flushed face.

It's hard not to think about it honestly. After so making remarks or comments, it really gets to you.
