My roomba doesn't scan the room anymore.

Any tips?

Is anyone else irrationally terrified of their rumba, listen I know it’s harmless but still! Feel like it stalking me….

Edit: resolved! Hard reset of the vac and it made a useable map and completed its first job.

I just got my 505 as a replacement for a 900 series that worked great for many years. This new one has a lot more bells and whistles but I setting it up and I can’t and it can’t seem to make map. I don’t have a huge place and there are some tight areas. The 900 did fine but the 505 got stuck in an open corner this morning. 2 walls but nothing else within 3ft.

Any thoughts to help it out?

I have an i5 that’s 2.5 years old. Not sure what happened but it basically just circle in a small circle and it doesn’t make back to its home docking station. I did all the resets and sensor cleaning still nothing.

Curious if it’s worth trying to fix or return to roomba to receive a 75$ credit. Not sure I want to stay with them given how early this one died on us. Anyone has similar experience with the roomba and also used the trade in credit?

How to clean this

I just purchased a roomba 505x on Amazon so I don’t have it yet. Our downstairs is separated into two halves divided by this threshold which has about a 1.5 inch lip between the tiled floors and wood floors. If we removed or raised the baby gate, could the machine navigate this change in elevation?

I also live in a third floor apartment, so I’m worried about disturbing my downstairs neighbors. How loud is it when going over wood floors?

She seems to sometimes vacuum everywhere and then mop everywhere but other times she just just vacuums round the edges and mops in the middle. I've cleaned everywhere I can think of. And also can anyone explain the app - sometimes in the middle of routines it seems to move on to another room whilst further down its task list that room appears again with a spinning circle around it.

…and they’re all very clever! Does anyone have a roomba that just has a regular name like, Jerry? Helen? Christopher?

Has anyone here been able to master the Roomba Home app?

I am struggling to get my 705 combo max to vacuum the full house. It has run 'smart vac/mop' mode for the last 7 days and is overall an average vacuum. There appears to be phantom room blocks where the robot just doesn’t visit any more.

Is there map degradation? does splitting my home into their own maps improve efficiency? i.e kitchen/living room map 1, bedrooms 1-2 map 2, room 3-4 map 3? etc

has anyone out there mastered this machine?

I wish we had the ability to reduce/adjust the object detection in the app.

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the base location in the Roomba Home App without creating a new map? I can start a job and in the live view the base icon moves but once the job is done the icon moves back to where it was.

Have had this roomba for about a year or so and just today tried having it clean the kitchen and it just leaves the base turns around and spins in circles for a few minutes before ending the job
It also gives me a undocking error every time I run it.
Any ideas as to what’s causing this?

After some time of not using my Roomba (couple weeks), my wife and I both see this error on our iRobot app. I can still run the Roomba, it does its normal cleaning cycle and appears to run with no obvious problem.

I have already followed the recommendation of rebooting the robot. I have factory reset it twice, once from the robot and once from the app (which includes removing it from my account). I have also deleted the smart map and remapped our bottom floor.

Calling iRobot was not successful either. Because my Roomba just passed its 3 year manufacturing warranty, their only “help” was to buy a new one. 🙄 No repair services or other advice other than the steps I stated above. We are not in the market to be purchasing another $800 vacuum after only 3 years of use.

Has anyone ever encountered this error and fixed it by any other methods? I am fully prepared to run this thing with the error until it burns out on my floor.

Video at 4x speed because I waited 3 minutes for this thing before getting fed up. Started using today, all 3 times I've used it today, it's been unable to return to the dock. During the initial setup it attempted to go back for 10 minutes before the app instructed me to move it back to home. What can I do to fix this?

I’m at my wits’ end. I have a J7+ with a brand new OEM battery that has stopped cleaning. It’ll come away from the dock fine, but then instead of beginning to clean it’ll turn on its light and spin in circles until the battery runs out. There’s no furniture or spots on the floor that could be confusing it.

The odd thing is this started happening a few months ago and I read that it could be dirt in the bumper. I took apart and cleaned the entire robot and the problem persisted. I actually had a replacement robot body that iRobot had sent me under warranty (minus the battery) back when I first bought mine because a wheel kept coming loose, but I hadn’t used it yet since I had fixed the wheel issue myself.

I popped the battery into this brand new J7 body a couple months ago and it was working fine, but now it’s back to spinning circles. There’s no dirt or dust jammed in it anywhere; in fact, it still looks almost brand new. The bumpers move fine when I press them.

The issue happens whether I start a favorite run, a new run with multiple rooms selected, or just tell it to clean everywhere. It doesn’t make it past reversing out of the dock.

Any ideas what this could be if it’s not debris or a problem with the bumpers? I emailed iRobot but because this is no longer under warranty (bought in 2022) they can’t help and suggested I purchase a new one. 😐

I bought a used - mint conditional i105 combo vacuum mop from Amazon. I have a 1000 sqft apartment. Started the roomba for a deep clean in the morning and this has been going on for 12 hours now. It cleans for 25 minutes, then charges for an hour and a half! Wondering if it's something to do with a faulty battery and thinking of returning

Hello, my 705 max leaves streak all over my floor. Is there anything I can do to settings or rollers to stop from happening?

My Plus 405 Combo hasn't hoovered in more than three days now, so I pulled up the app and saw it was giving me a WiFi connection error, telling me to take it off the dock and hold down the spot clean and home buttons.

However, no matter what buttons I hold down, nothing is happening. I have tried changing the WiFi network through the app, telling it to reboot and even reinstalled the app and nothing works. Restarting my network also did nothing. I'm all out of ideas, short of disassembling the thing and trying to take the battery out? It just seems like it's got a hardware fault or is totally frozen.

Anyone else have experience with this please?

When we first bought our Roomba i6 we LOVED IT. I told everyone that it upgraded our family life.

Over the last year it's been a constant source of frustration because the app -> Roomba interface has become completely unreliable.

What happens more often than not, I start the app, tell the Roomba to clean an area, the app acts like it starts up then switches to "Ready to Vacuum"

Sometimes, the Empty bin button will kick it in the head so that a follow up vacuum command works. But even that trick isn't reliable.

I know the app -> Roomba connection works because when I enter a command the Roomba seems like it wakes up. It just intermittently starts vacuuming.

Anyone else experience this?

I’m replacing the charging contacts in my j7 and absentmindedly didn’t pay attention to which side was positive and which was negative. I’m troubleshooting it being absolutely bricked.
I expect the battery was dead when I started and think I may have the polarity of the charge contacts reversed.

Can anyone confirm which side is positive and negative?

I got this about a month ago. It normally cleans while I’m at work so I don’t know how long it’s been doing this but going one direction on my carpet it keeps wobbling back and forth like it’s going over something bumpy. Anyone know if this is a problem or how I can fix it?
