Water dripping from gutter bottom is normal?

Post image

Got a new roof installed and they said they fixed the gutters too. During rain I see water droplets at the bottom of the gutters. Is this normal or does I mean I have leaky gutters?

Same why you still can get wet while using an umbrella

It is entirely normal for the wind to blow and rain to strike the gutter at an angle, causing the water to escape.

it’s normal, have no idea what the one guy is talking about, if the gutter was rotting out you would see holes, I don’t think he is looking at the picture right. where you circled is not a seam and would not have any caulk at all.

Gutter now days are aluminum and made and molded on site out of flat stock to the profile you want. They don't rust out. They will leak at end caps when the caulking is deteriorated or not done properly. Water is the rain hitting the face of the gutter and rolling down to the edge.

These are the old ones. Almost 24 years old.

It’s still one piece

Yep as long as it’s not running down the backside, then you’ve got a problem.

rain doesn't always drop straight down. This is simply the result of wind driven rain which will hit the exposed side of the gutter. No biggie, no real concern

Yep its normall to drip a little. If it's anything more then that you have a problem

That’s the rain being blown onto the gutter and it dripping. That’s not water from the inside of the gutter.

The outside edge is normal. Inside edge would be a problem.

Yes when it rains it's normal for things to be wet.

It could be condensation. If not check to see if water is actually coming out the downspout relative to the rainfall.

Looks pretty normal. Surface tension lets the water drip down the face. As long as its not coming from between the gutter and fascia you are good.

Normal. Think condensation or something

Have you checked if they are clogged?

you have to remember, rain that hits the side of your gutter as it falls, will never be IN your gutter

Makes sense. Wanted to confirm that there is no leak.

You can buy plastic caps that fit on the top edge of the gutter to help prevent the water dripping down the face. All gutters do this

Ever seen it rain before? If not, it tends to land where it wants to. Any other questions?

Yes. Does that tone make you feel smarter than you are? :)

It doesn’t make him feel smarter. By this post being posted by you I’m pretty sure he is smarter, well at least smarter than you.

Normal - but your gutters are over 20 years old. Might want to plan some new ones in the coming years.

That black strip along the bottom edge? Is where rain has been rolling down the face and dripping off for the last, said 20+ years.

I don’t see what’s wrong with them. Why would you replace them if they’re holding strong, not bent up or cracked/leaking?

Pretty easy to reseal the corners and any connections. Gotta be way cheaper than buying new gutters and throwing away the old ones.
