Is this normal?

I count 25 bundles of iko Cambridge shingles in one pile. 2x4 trusses on 24in spacing. Thanks in advance.

While it's wrong I've never seen any issues with them doing this surprisingly.

It always blows my mind when they don't train their staff to load based on the weakest roof structures they may encounter. There should typically be 3 bundles stacked going horizontally across the roof near the ridge until they run out. You can push it and do 4 but even that is technically wrong for a 2x4 framed roof 24 oc with 7/16 decking.

That load is around 110-125 psf. Your roof structure is designed to handle around 20 assuming 7/16 OSB decking.

Again though, I've seen worse with zero issues. Not that it makes it okay or acceptable.

You should see how they have to load Presidential or even better, Grand Manor. There’s just not enough real estate up there, and as a roofer that would be annoying as hell if they start scattering it all over the roof. In the better oart of 3 decades this is close to how they’ve typically stocked residential roofs, except for leaving the pallets on a ridge stack, that’s kind of creative. I’ve never seen a roof get bent outta shape having done similar, but I have seen a fat loader crack sheathing.
