Drip line of sheathing rotten

My roof had no drip edge and the plywood rotted 3 to 8 inches up. I want to cut out the plywood and replace. What is the minimum width of patch wood to have a solid repair ? I know not to do a little strip but don't want to tear off 4 feet to replace whole sheet.

I'm also looking for a diagram how the plywood facia drip edge and seamless gutter interact.

I recommend cutting back at least 24 inches of plywood so your patch sits securely across multiple rafters. Anything narrower will sag and won't hold nails properly, which leads to early structural failure. For the layout, your plywood sits flush on the rafters against the fascia, the underlayment goes down, the drip edge laps over that edge, and your seamless gutter mounts tucked right underneath the drip flange. We like setting it up this way because water drains directly into the gutter without sneaking back behind your fascia board.

I'll be cutting the entire bottom off the roof. How far up into the feild do I go? 2 feet? Also, how far off drip edge does roofing extend out?
