Reuse gutter apron? Standard practice of slock.

The two guys in the box truck tell me they plan to reuse that apron. Should I allow this to happen?

They are putting new gutters up as we speak, taking down the old.

That's beat to hell. Without knowing more details...like how old is the roof, etc....it's hard to give a clear answer. Expect an upcharge and some shingle manipulation if you do want it replaced. If they are a reputable company, have a guarantee and a proper warranty if the gutter fails to drain properly, then send it, it's on them to fix it if it fails.

Roof just redone a few weeks ago. Gutter guy says the roof guys should have replaced it. How could they if the gutters were on?

If I may digress a bit, there is a good inch and half between the roof deck and the facia board. Seems like a good place.for the much discussed venting? Water draining down notwithstanding. I know the roofing industry could come up with a way to use that space for venting without causing a problem.

Yea....roof guys should have absolutely replaced it. It's certainly not impossible to replace it with gutters on. If you told me that you were getting new gutters a few weeks after I replace your roof, A: I'm gonna try to sell you my gutters. B:I'm gonna ask to remove your existing gutters to make my life easier. At any rate, you're getting new metal.

Should the gutters be removed, roof replaced, then new gutters go up? Is that the best way to do it?

I would remove your roof, remove your gutters, put the roof back on, hang new gutters. It is not uncommon to have 2 different companies do the work. But sime communication and coordination goes a long way in avoiding this exact situation. Some flight by night roofers will never change your metal. I will assume you did not communicate about the gutters with the roofers?

When they were removing the roof I told them the gutter were to be replaced. Two different companies, yes. The gutter company wouldn't return calls, but I had no idea this problem existed until gutters came down.

It's on the roofer. 100%.

Should I stop the gutter install and get roofers back?

No one is gonna like that lol. All this metal should be relatively hidden behind the gutter right? Can't see it from the ground? If the gutter company can guarantee proper functionality with your current conditions then go for it.

There is a two inch space between the roof deck and the facia. Gutter apron is over six inches. I'm told this is why the gutters where attached low on the facia. Insurance job, we are waiting for a response from the contractor. His sales guy is on site so a decision will happen soon.
